    Celebrate Black History Month

    Charlie and I are studying people that made Black History Month famous. I was working through our lesson plans I thought I would share Unit Studies for Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Curtis Mayfield. Also, you can check out the Lesson Plan/ Unit Study I created for Shirley Chisolm. Throughout the month Charlie and I will be creating Lesson Plans/ Unit Studies.     Black History Month: Shirley Chisolm

    Shirley Chisholm  known for making History in 1972 when she became the first African American from a major political party to run for president. Shirley is the first Democratic woman of any race to do so. Chisholm’s presidential bid wasn’t her only accomplishment throughout her 80-year life. Born: November 30, 1924 in New York City Education Brooklyn College Became part of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the Harriet Tubman Society Causes: She advocate for an African American history curriculum.     Black History Month or African-American History Month

    February celebrates Black History Month. This is an annual observance originating in the United States. I would like to let you know not only is February referred to Black History Month but also African-American History Month. Black History Month has received official recognition from governments in the US and Canada. Even being recognized in Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Black History Month began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. Black History Month is celebrated in February in the US and Canada.
