One thing I’ve learned over the years is that you truly never know who you will meet. That is why on Suzzane’s headstone it says she never meet a stranger. That is how I want to live my life because we never know what someone else might be going through and a kind word might change there day.

I’ve leaned that the most unexpected conversations happen in the most ordinary places. You do not always meet important people in a fancy office, at a big conference, or during a planned business meeting. Sometimes you meet them while having lunch. Sometimes you meet them at a community event. Sometimes you simply take the time to say hello.

Recently, David and I went to Pizza Hut for lunch. It was just an ordinary day, just a simple meal together. But as we talked with people around us, that ordinary moment turned into a reminder that every conversation has the potential to open a door for my blog more times than I can count and these moments are God winks from the LORD reminding me what I’m doing needs to be seen and heard.

While waiting for the restaurant to take our order I met a woman who works as a film director in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and our conversation opened the possibility of working together in the future because she had gotten a divorce and was wanting to rebuild her business. What started as a simple lunch for David and I became a new connection.

That is the beautiful thing about people. Everyone has a story. Everyone has something they are passionate about. Everyone has experiences, talents, and opportunities they may be willing to share. later that week I made connections through the American Legion. Through conversations there, I met someone involved with a homeschool group. We talked about possibilities for sharing content and connecting with families.

Her daughter has her own company. She has her own business. Another connection came through people creating content online, including gaming videos and TikTok content. Different people. Different backgrounds. Different passions. But one thing in common: They were willing to talk. That is where relationships begin.

Building Connections Is About More Than Business

When people hear the word networking, they sometimes imagine business cards, meetings, and formal events. But I believe networking is simply building relationships. It is listening. It is showing interest and asking questions and listening to what they say more than sharing about ourselves. It is learning from others because everyone has something they can teach us.

It is being open to the possibility that someone you meet today may become part of your journey tomorrow. Some connections may lead to business opportunities you never dreamed about. Some may lead to friendships that will last a lifetime. Some may simply encourage you during a season when you need it.

Staying Open to New Opportunities

As I continue building Greatful Moments, I’m learning that this journey is about more than creating content. It is about connecting with people. It is about sharing stories. It is about encouraging others. It is about being willing to step outside our comfort zones and see what opportunities God places in our path.

Sometimes we are so focused on where we think we should be going that we miss the blessing sitting right in front of us. A conversation. A new friend. A new idea. A chance to help someone else. Or a way to help a business grow a struggling business that will allow you to help them and help you at the same time.

Lessons I’m Learning

Be willing to talk to people.

You never know who is sitting beside you. Be willing to listen. Everyone has a story worth hearing. Be willing to share what you do. You never know when someone needs exactly what you have to offer. Be willing to follow up. A simple conversation can become a meaningful connection. The next opportunity may not come from where you expect.

It may come from a lunch at Pizza Hut. It may come from a community gathering. It may come from simply saying hello. So keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep connecting. Because you truly never know who you’ll meet. And sometimes the smallest conversations become the biggest blessings the LORD can bring us.
