The Great Fall Gift Guide: Cozy Finds, Family Fun, and Autumn Memories
For my family and our friends, and I know for a lot of families, fall, harvest, and Thanksgiving all seem to blend together. Before we know it, we’re talking about pumpkins, planning Thanksgiving dinner, and getting ready for Christmas. Sometimes I think we get so busy moving from one holiday to the next that we forget to stop and enjoy the beautiful season we’re in right now.
That’s something I’ve been thinking about, and I’ve decided I want to take more time to enjoy the beautiful world the Lord has created for us. Especially on a Sunday. For my family there is something special about stepping outside, looking at the trees, and seeing the leaves changing colors.
The beautiful reds, oranges, yellows, and all the different shades in between remind me that we don’t have to travel somewhere special or spend money to see something beautiful. Sometimes all we have to do is stop what we’re doing for five minutes and look outside our own window. Just look at what the Lord has created for us today.
And that is why I’m here this Sunday morning. I wanted to give fall its own time to be celebrated, without rushing straight into a harvest celebrations, Halloween or Thanksgiving. I want to enjoy Fall which can also be known as Autumn for what it is, and I want us to appreciate the beauty around us, and find little ways to make memories with the people we love.
Today, I want to share some cozy finds, family fun, and ideas for making autumn fall memories with your friends and family. But I also want this to be a place where we can share ideas with one another. Because goodness knows, I’m always looking for something new to try with my family!
One of the things I love about sharing here on GreatfulMoments.com is getting to hear from other families. We all have our own traditions, our own favorite things to do, and our own memories that make a season special. Maybe your family has a favorite book you enjoy reading when the weather starts to cool down. Perhaps there is a special recipe you look forward to making every fall during Autumn, or a craft that comes out of the closet year after year.
Maybe you enjoy taking walks to look at the changing leaves, playing board games around the table, watching a favorite movie together, or spending an afternoon making something with your hands. I’d love to hear about it! Is there a book you enjoy reading, a recipe you enjoy creating, or a craft you enjoy making during the fall? Please share it with me. I’m looking for new ideas to add to my family’s fall / Autumn plans this year, and I’d love for us to learn from one another. You never know when something your family has enjoyed for years might become a new favorite in somebody else’s home.
One of the nicest things about autumn or fall is having a reason to slow down and make home feel a little cozier. When the temperatures begin to change, it’s a good time to bring out the soft blankets, enjoy a favorite drink, and make a comfortable place to sit and relax.
I enjoy finding things that are not only pretty but useful, too. A cozy throw blanket, a good book, a puzzle, or a new board game can give us something to look forward to on an afternoon when we’d rather stay home. And you don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy the season. Sometimes the things we already own are all we need. We can pull out a favorite game, make something warm to drink, and spend a little time together.
If you’re looking for fall gifts, think about the people in your life and what makes them happy. Some people love decorating their homes, while others would rather have something useful or an activity they can enjoy with their family. The best finds are the ones that fit the people receiving them.
As families, we can put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make every season special. We see all the decorations, activities, and outings available, and it can sometimes feel as though we need to do everything. But I think there is something to be said for keeping things simple.
Take a few minutes to walk outside and look at the leaves. Gather around the table for a board game. Read a book together. Try a new recipe or make a craft with supplies you already have at home. These are the kinds of activities that can become family traditions without requiring a big budget.
For families who enjoy learning together, fall is also a wonderful time to explore books, puzzles, and games. Reading doesn’t always have to mean sitting down with a chapter book, and learning doesn’t always have to happen at a desk. There are plenty of ways to discover something new while having fun together. And sometimes the best part isn’t the activity itself. It’s the conversations, the laughter, and the time spent with the people sitting beside you.
As I put together this guide, I want to look beyond the things we can purchase and think about the things we can do. I’d love to discover new books to read during autumn ie fall, recipes to try in the kitchen, and crafts that families can enjoy together. Maybe you have a recipe that has been passed down through your family, or perhaps you found a new one last year that everybody loved.
Maybe you have a favorite autumn story that you read every year, or a simple craft that children and adults can work on together. These are the kinds of ideas I want to collect and share as we enjoy the season. I don’t want this guide to be just another shopping list. I want it to inspire us to try something new, revisit an old favorite, and make time for the little things that bring us joy. So please, share your ideas with me. I really would love to hear what your family enjoys doing in the fall Auumn session..
Here at GreatfulMoments.com, we’re also sharing our 10-Minute Reading & Activity Challenge were families can earn Tickets to encourage families to make time for reading and activities. Ten minutes might not sound like much, but it can be a wonderful place to start. You can read a book, enjoy a comic, work on a puzzle, or choose an activity that brings the family together.
Parents can join in, too! After all, making time to learn and enjoy something together shouldn’t be just for the children. If you’d like to participate in our ticket opportunity, please visit our dedicated 10-Minute Reading & Activity Tickets post for the instructions and details. And remember, this doesn’t have to be one more thing to stress about. The idea is to make a little room in our busy days for something enjoyable.
As I sit here this Sunday morning thinking about this guide, I keep coming back to the same thought: we don’t have to rush through everything lets give fall and autumn the times it deserves to have and to celebrating it before we move on to the next #Holiday.
Fall doesn’t have to be only about preparing for Thanksgiving or getting a head start on Christmas. We can enjoy the changing leaves, appreciate the cooler days, discover a new book, try a recipe, or make something together simply because it’s autumn. Most importantly, we can take a few minutes to appreciate the world the Lord has created for us.
Even if all you do today is look outside your window, notice the colors of the trees, and take a deep breath, I hope you’ll find a moment to enjoy the beauty around you. That is what I want this Fall Gift Guide to be about: cozy finds, family fun, autumn memories, and taking time to appreciate the season we’re blessed to enjoy.
Thank you for spending part of your Sunday morning with me here at GreatfulMoments.com. I hope you’ll come back as we add more ideas to our fall Autumn plans, and I hope you’ll share some of your own along the way. Have a beautiful Sunday and we love you and were grateful, thankful and blessed your here for us.
Now it’s your turn! What is your family’s favorite autumn or fall memory? Is there a book you love reading, a recipe you enjoy creating, or a craft you look forward to making every year? Please share it with me. I’m always looking for new ideas to add to my family’s fall plans, and I’d love to hear yours. Until next time, may we remember to be grateful, thankful, and blessed for the things the LORD has given us.
Grateful. Thankful. Blessed
