National Acorn Squash Day #AcornSquashDay

Fall is here and September 7th was National Acorn Squash Day #AcornSquashDay. I don’t know about you but my family hasn’t ever had Acorn Squash. With my sister having to eat a Gluten-Free diet because of her Thyroid and Hasemoto Disease we’ve been branching out and trying new recipes and different foods.

I don’t know if Debbie has had Acorn Squash or not. I was thinking we could prepare it for dinner this evening. Now, I need to find a recipe everyone would ear. While looking for a recipe my mine went back to Charlie’s #Homeschool Cooking Class before he graduated.

I not only found a recipe to prepare for dinner this evening but created a Lesson Plan you can use with your students in Homeschool. If you have other resource on Acorn Squash or recipes we should try leave me a comment below and I will check out the information you left us.

In the meantime join my family as we celebrate Acorn Squash a fun #Holiday making it a perfect pairing for a homeschool cooking class! Then share National Acorn Squash Day, with your friends and family because it isa celebration of one of Autumn’s most versatile and nutrient-packed vegetables with your friends, family and students.

Here’s a delicious and educational idea for your cooking class:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Halve and de-seed the squash, then slice into ½-inch half-moons.
  3. Brown the butter in a saucepan, then mix with maple syrup.
  4. Brush squash slices with the maple butter and sprinkle with salt.
  5. Roast for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until tender and crispy.
  6. Garnish with sage and serve warm.
