I introduced you to Kur when I shared my shoes with you then again when I shared the shoes I would like for Santa to bring David. Now, I would like to share the shoes I would like to get for Charlie. When I’m putting together my Christmas Gift Guide / Wish List for Charlie, I have to remember that he’s not a little boy anymore.
He’s 19. And somehow, somewhere along the way, that little boy who used to wear my shoes grew into a young man who wears a size 11. Lord have mercy! A couple of months ago, Charlie left me on the side of the road when I realized we couldn’t share shoes anymore. And I’m not entirely convinced he’s finished growing. At least not height-wise.
I’m not sure what his feet are planning to do. So when I see a pair of shoes that I think Charlie would like, I have to ask myself: What happens if he grows out of them? At this point, I’d have to put one foot—wait, no… I’d have to put BOTH feet in one shoe. So we could get our money’s worth out of them. And somehow, I don’t think that’s going to work.
But you know what? Charlie deserves good shoes. So this year, I’m adding two pairs of KURU Footwear to my wish list of gifts I would like to purchase for Charlie which you will also see in our Young Men’s Christmas Gift Guide / Wish List.
The first pair of shoes I picked out was KURU Draft 2 Slipper there Current price: $119 This is a lightweight slipper with a cozy lining and flexible support, designed for recovery and wearing around the house. And honestly, I can see Charlie wearing these. He’s home quite a bit, and having something comfortable to slip on around the house makes sense.
At $119, this is also the kind of Christmas gift that makes me say, “Okay, I can work with that.” Especially when we’re talking about a 19-year-old young man who wears a size 11. Not, only that his Birthday is 9 days before Christmas so he deserves to be pampered in more than one way. Or at least I think so even though he is grown.
For me buying shoes for Charlie isn’t quite the same thing it used to be. I can’t just look at a pair and think, “Oh, those will fit him.” Or he would like them. Now I have to think about whether those size 11 feet are going to stay size 11! But if they do, I think the Draft 2 would make a nice addition to his Christmas gifts. And if they don’t… Well, let’s just say I’m going to need to get creative. Because Grandpa isn’t here to give them to.
The second pair of shoes I would like to get Charlie is KURU FLEX Slip-On there Current price: $129 and it is completely different from the Draft 2. KURU describes the FLEX Slip-On as an athleisure slip-on with an ultra-flexible outsole, heel-hugging technology, breathable spacer mesh, and grab loops that make it easy to slip on.
It’s listed as being best for travel, quick wear, everyday casual wear, and errands. And I immediately started picturing Charlie in these. I can see Charlie stlying these his own way. , I personally don’t like white shoes they always mad me think I looked like Minnie Mouse give me black shoes but Charlie is different he wants white all whites.
Well… I like looking at white shoes. Wearing them is another story. But I know Charlie. And I know he would probably love these. Because Charlie is a man’s man but at times he can be a real fashionista. He doesn’t necessarily want to dress like everybody else. He likes putting things together in his own way and thinking outside the box.
I can actually picture him wearing these with his black jeans, black dress shirt, and that purple suit jacket I bought him for Christmas and his Graduation a couple years ago. And you can bet your bottom dollar he’d have his sunglasses on, too. He’d be styling. He’d be looking like Charlie. Not carrying what anyone thought of him.
And if he could, he’d probably be headed straight to Hobart, Oklahoma looking that way. That’s one of the things I love about buying gifts for Charlie now that he’s grown. I’m not trying to dress a little boy anymore. I’m looking for things that fit the young man he’s becoming. That’s why these two KURU shoes serve completely different purposes. The Draft 2 is the cozy, around-the-house option. The FLEX Slip-On is the shoe I can picture Charlie wearing when he’s heading out, running errands, traveling, going to church, or simply wanting to look put together without wearing a traditional dress shoe.
And I like having both possibilities on his Christmas wish list. Because a good gift doesn’t always have to be something complicated. Sometimes it’s simply something the person will actually wear. And if Charlie likes the shoes as much as I think he will, I already know he’ll make them his own. Because that’s Charlie. He doesn’t have to look like everybody else. He just has to look like Charlie.
Watching your child grow up is funny. One minute you’re buying their little shoes. Then suddenly they’re wearing a size 11 and you’re standing there wondering where the time went. Charlie is 19 now, and I’m learning to shop for a young man instead of a little boy. That means thinking about his style, his personality, his comfort, and the things he’ll actually use.
So both the KURU Draft 2 and KURU FLEX Slip-On are making their way onto Charlie’s Young Men’s Christmas Gift Guide/ Wish List this year. And I’m just praying those size 11 feet decide they’ve grown enough. Because Mama isn’t ready to start buying size 12s, 13s, and 14s yet. My shoe budget isn’t prepared for that kind of adventure.
Santa, be watching out because when I come to help you load the Sleigh you know David and Charlie will not be far behind. David will be telling us to sit down as he loads the sleigh. Charlie will be camped out in the front seat with his Hot Chocolate and Takki’s as he reminds Rudolf he is a good driver. Make sure your fashened in Santa because its going to be a loud and bumpy ride so don’t forget your headphones to block the music out.
