This is one of those mornings when you would find me sitting her scratching my head because I have a question I would like to ask the creators of The Little Golden Books. How can we celebrate one #Holiday at a time when you forget to create books celebrating Seasons we should be celebrating.
Pull up a chair, Buttercup, because today I’m going to share a book from my childhood: Johnny Appleseed. But before I do can you tell me why we could find a book on Fall but nothing about Autumn? Then can you tell me why Johnny Appleseed is being celebrated in these Seasons because I sure don’t know why.
Let’s just move on with our day before we fall down the Rabbit Hole and can’t get out. Because this is where Little Golden Books says this book belongs. So, instead of arguing with them, I’m going to put on my big girl pants and agree. Sometimes it’s just easier that way! 😂
But seriously, friends, they have an actual books for Fall and that same book is supposed to be for Autumn too. How does that work? Then as you know we ended up with Johnny Appleseed in the mix. Why would they skip a season the Lord created? God only knows!
So, today, we’re going to share two books: our Fall selection,The Colors of Fall (Little Golden Book) by Danna Smith, illustrated by Jessica Gibson, and our Autumn selection, Johnny Appleseed: A Little Golden Book Biography by Lori Haskins Houran (Author), Geneviève Godbout (Illustrator)
And you know what? As funny as this little book hunt has been, I think these two books could make a wonderful addition to your homeschool lessons. Whether you’re homeschooling your children or simply looking for fun books to sit down and read together as a family, there’s something special about sharing a story.
Johnny Appleseed has been around for as long as I can remember. How about you? Do you remember hearing his story when you were growing up?
Today, let’s take a closer look at these two Little Golden Books and explore how you might enjoy them with your family.
Until next time, friends, have a beautiful, blessed day!
