For those of you who’ve been following along with our Halloween movie adventures here at Greatful Moments, you know we’re not stopping with Freeform 31 Days of Halloween. AMC has its own Halloween movie celebration, and we’re going to work our way through that schedule, too!
I would like to welcome you to day 2 AMC FearFest 2026, celebrating its 30th anniversary. AMC has brought back the Crypt Keeper, voiced by John Kassir, to host this year’s event. The schedule includes familiar horror franchises, Stephen King adaptations, creature features, and marathons that keep the movies going well into the night.
Now, you already know that I’m not the person who wants to spend every evening watching scary movies. I like Halloween, but I also like being able to walk down my hallway without wondering what’s hiding around the corner! I’ll let the serious horror fans enjoy some of these, while David and Charlie can help me decide which ones might be worth checking out.
Let’s get started with the first 15 days of AMC FearFest. We’ll go day by day, name each movie, share what it’s about, and see what’s on the schedule. Just remember I am a Scardy Cat and I admit it so you may need to hold my hand but if it gets to scary I may be hiding under the bed with Pheobie.
A note about times: The times below are reproduced as listed in AMC’s published schedule. Check your local listings for time-zone differences and any programming changes.
Thursday, October 1 — FearFest Halloween Kickoff Marathon
11:00 a.m. — Halloween III: Season of the Witch– A Halloween mask maker has a sinister plan involving a television broadcast and the masks children are wearing for Halloween. This installment takes a different direction from the Michael Myers storyline.
It’s interesting when a franchise takes a different turn. If you’re a fan of the Halloween movies, this is an opportunity to see one of the entries that steps away from the familiar masked killer. But it isn’t something I would watch. How about you?
1:00 p.m. — Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers– Michael Myers returns after years away, and his young niece becomes the target of his pursuit as people try to protect her.
This one returns to the Michael Myers story. If you enjoy following a horror franchise in order, this is one to add to your list but anything with the name #MichaelMyers in it is something I amn going to stay way away from..
3:00 p.m. — Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers– Michael Myers continues his pursuit of his niece, Jamie, while the people around her try to stop him.
The story picks up after the previous installment, making this a natural choice for viewers following the series. I already told you movies based on this character is someone I am steering clear from.
5:00 p.m. — Halloween II (1981)– The original Halloween story continues as Laurie Strode is taken to a hospital while Michael Myers remains on the loose.
This is another entry for fans who want to follow the original storyline and see what happens after the first movie. But it isn’t a movie for those faint at heart and that is me.
7:00 p.m. — Halloween (1978)– The original classic introduces Michael Myers, who escapes from a psychiatric institution and returns to his hometown, where teenager Laurie Strode becomes the focus of his pursuit.
This is the movie that started the Michael Myers phenomenon. Horror fans who enjoy classic slasher films may want to revisit where it all began. Nope not for me…
11:00 p.m. — Tales from the Crypt Marathon– The horror anthology series presents stories involving supernatural happenings, dark humor, and people whose choices often lead to trouble.
The Crypt Keeper is also the host of this year’s FearFest, so a Tales from the Crypt marathon is a fitting way to close out the opening day. But it isn’t something I intend to watch. How about you?
Friday, October 2 — AMC Celebrates Insidious–
8:00 p.m. — Insidious (15th Anniversary)– A family discovers that something is seriously wrong when their son falls into an unexplained coma. As strange events unfold, they seek help understanding what has happened to him.
This is the first movie in the Insidious franchise, and AMC is marking its 15th anniversary with a marathon.
10:30 p.m. — Insidious: Chapter 2– The story continues as the family investigates the supernatural events surrounding their son and uncovers more about the family’s past.
If you’re following the franchise, watching the sequel after the first movie helps keep the story together.
1:00 a.m. — Insidious: Chapter 3– This prequel follows a teenager who seeks help from a psychic after experiencing disturbing supernatural events.
The marathon continues after midnight. This is one for viewers who want to stay up late and explore more of the Insidious universe.

This Stephen King adaptation explores grief and the consequences of trying to bring back what has been lost. It’s a dark story, so viewers should know what they’re getting into.
10:30 a.m. — Silver Bullet– In a small town plagued by mysterious deaths, a young boy suspects a werewolf is responsible. He and his family try to uncover the truth.
Werewolves and unexplained attacks make this a classic creature-horror story.
12:30 p.m. — Stephen King’s It, Part 1– A group of children in Derry, Maine, encounter a terrifying presence that takes the form of a clown known as Pennywise.
This two-part television adaptation brings King’s story to the screen. Pennywise is not the sort of clown I’d want surprising me in the hallway!
2:45 p.m. — Stephen King’s It, Part 2– The story continues as the characters face the frightening events surrounding Pennywise and the mystery of Derry.
If you start Part 1, this is the next part of the story. Viewers can follow the adaptation from beginning to end.
5:00 p.m. — Christine– A teenager becomes obsessed with a vintage Plymouth Fury named Christine, and the car begins to exert a disturbing influence over him.
A car might seem like an unusual subject for a horror movie, but Stephen King turns it into something much darker. This is one I would want to learn more about before deciding to watch.
7:00 p.m. — It (2017)– A group of children investigates the disappearance of young people in their town and discovers a frightening entity that often appears as Pennywise the clown.
This is a newer film adaptation of King’s novel, separate from the earlier television miniseries.-
10:00 p.m. — Carrie (2013)– Carrie White is a bullied teenager whose unusual powers emerge as the pressure and cruelty around her build toward a disastrous school event.
This adaptation of King’s first published novel explores bullying, isolation, and supernatural abilities.
12:15 a.m. — Misery– A famous author is rescued after a car accident by a devoted fan. He soon discovers that her idea of devotion is frighteningly controlling.
This psychological thriller focuses on captivity and obsession rather than monsters or supernatural creatures.
Sunday, October 4 — Slasher Sunday

This version offers a different interpretation of the original Halloween story.
2:45 p.m. — A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)– Teenagers discover that a terrifying figure named Freddy Krueger is attacking people in their dreams, where the consequences can become deadly.
Freddy became one of horror’s most recognizable villains through this film. It’s a classic for viewers who enjoy supernatural slasher movies.
5:00 p.m. — Friday the 13th (1980)– Camp counselors prepare to reopen Camp Crystal Lake, but a series of violent events threatens the group.
This is the original film in the Friday the 13th franchise, which became known for its summer-camp setting and slasher-movie suspense.
7:00 p.m. — Halloween II (1981)– The story continues after the original Halloween, with Laurie Strode at the hospital and Michael Myers still on the loose.
This is another chance to follow the original storyline.
9:00 p.m. — The Terror: Devil in Silver, Episode 103– AMC’s supernatural horror series follows a man caught up in disturbing events at a psychiatric hospital. This episode continues the show’s unfolding story.
If you’ve been watching the series, this is the next installment in its October run.
Monday, October 5 — Final Destination Marathon–
8:00 p.m. — Final Destination (2000)- A teenager has a premonition of a deadly disaster and manages to escape with several others. After they survive, unexplained deaths begin occurring among the group.
The movie turns the idea of escaping a disaster into a suspenseful story about fate and whether anyone can truly avoid it.
10:00 p.m. — Final Destination 2– After another premonition saves a group of people from a highway disaster, the survivors begin experiencing a series of frightening events.
The sequel continues the franchise’s focus on people trying to escape a fate they thought they’d avoided.
12:00 a.m. — The Final Destination (2009)– A young man experiences a premonition of a deadly racetrack accident and helps several people escape. The survivors soon find themselves facing further danger.
This installment continues the franchise’s familiar premise of trying to outwit death.
Tuesday, October 6– 5:45 p.m. — Thir13en Ghosts– A family inherits an unusual glass house filled with dangerous spirits. They soon discover that the building is far more than a strange architectural curiosity.
The movie combines haunted-house scares with supernatural mysteries. If you like ghost stories, this one may interest you, although it leans toward horror rather than friendly Halloween fun.
7:45 p.m. — Ghost Ship– A salvage crew discovers an abandoned ocean liner, only to find that the ship holds a horrifying secret.
An isolated ship and a mysterious past provide the setting for this supernatural horror movie.
9:45 p.m. — Jeepers Creepers– A brother and sister traveling through the countryside encounter a frightening creature and become caught in a dangerous situation.
This is a creature-horror film with suspense and disturbing scenes, so it may not be the best choice for viewers who prefer gentler Halloween entertainment.
Wednesday, October 7 — Chucky Marathon

The story brings Chucky back into a more isolated, suspenseful setting.

We’ve made it through October 1–15, with everything from Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street to Stephen King adaptations, creature features, Chucky, and Final Destination. There are a lot of movies here for serious horror fans. As for me, I like to know what I’m getting into before I settle down for a movie night. Some of these stories sound interesting, while others may be more frightening than I want on an ordinary evening.
David and Charlie may have different picks, and that’s part of the fun of having a family movie house. Everybody gets to choose what they enjoy, and nobody has to watch something that isn’t their cup of tea. Next up: AMC FearFest 2026, Part Two, covering October 16–31. We’ll save November 1 for our separate AMC FearFest 2026: The Halloween Hangover — One More Day at the Movies! article, which we’ve already completed.
Have you watched any of these movies? Which horror classics do you return to every October, and which ones would you rather skip? Tell us in the comments Official schedule: AMC’s full FearFest 2026 schedule. Programming is subject to change.
