Life is funny at times when it comes to #Holidays we have Halloween, then we have Thanksgiving but in between it is Black Friday and no, it isn’t a true Holiday it is coming, and everywhere we look, there are advertisements reminding us about sales, bargains, and all the things we can buy for Christmas.
For my family it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of finding the perfect deal, especially when I’m trying to make the holidays special for the people we love. But more times than not I don’t have the money to go shopping or a way to the store but that is okay because I know that is the LORDs will of keeping me at home safe and sound.
But here at Greatful Moments, I wanted to remind you Black Friday is about more than shopping. Christmas isn’t measured by how many presents we put under the tree or how much money we spend. The best gifts are often the memories we make, the time we spend together, and the love we share with our families and friends.
Since books can be wonderful gifts for the readers in our lives, I went looking for stories that bring shopping, romance, and the holiday season together. Here are two books to explore as we head into the busiest shopping season of the year and they feature #BlackShoping so we can still be a part of it from our home.

O Hell, All Ye Shoppers by Louisa Masters–

Anyone who has tried to finish Christmas shopping during the holiday rush knows that shopping centers can be overwhelming. Add crowds, parking problems, and Christmas music playing everywhere, and sometimes you just want to get home!
Ethan Hall plans to fill Saturday, December 23, with junk food and bad TV, a day just for him amid the holiday chaos… until his baby sister calls and begs him to go collect a present for her. At the biggest shopping center in Australia. On the busiest shopping day of the year. Hell no. Right?
Ethan’s soft heart gets the best of him. He battles through the parking lot, and in the main shopping concourse, he’s trampled, elbowed, and bombarded with terrible holiday music. Then he enters hell itself, a specialty store aimed at women… where he meets Ty. They bond in a sea of estrogen and manic shoppers, fighting together to attain freedom, only to find they’re not quite ready go their separate ways
I wanted to remind you there is nothing wrong with enjoying a good bargain or finding a special present for someone you love. I enjoy sharing gift ideas with readers, too. But we don’t have to buy everything we see, and we don’t have to spend more than we can afford to make someone feel loved.
Sometimes a thoughtful book, a handwritten note, a homemade treat, or an afternoon spent together means more than an expensive gift. As we move toward Thanksgiving and Christmas, I hope we remember to take care of ourselves and one another. Let’s enjoy the sales when they make sense for our families, but let’s not let shopping become the whole holiday.
I have a question for you. Are you someone who enjoys Black Friday shopping, or would you rather stay home with a good book and a cup of coffee? And when you’re shopping for Christmas, do you look for practical gifts, books, experiences, or something that reminds you of a special memory? Share your thoughts in the comments. I’d love to hear how you make the holidays meaningful without letting the shopping take over.
