Freeform 31 Nights of Halloween: October 17–22 — Six Days of Halloween Movies, Family Favorites, and Johnny Depp!

David is home this morning and before he decides we need to do something I wanted to bring you more movies you can watch in Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween,. Can you believe we’ve got six more days of movies to talk about! Just six more days until #Hallowen. Where did the time go?

Before I begin sharing the movies with you I wanted to let you know some of the movies are old favorites that I could watch over and over again, and others are movies I’ve missed and need to catch up on before Halloween gets here. While others are sure I’m not to sure of and may need someone to hold my hand. Do you know anyone who would volunteer?

By now I know you know how I feel about scary movies. I enjoy Halloween, but I don’t want to spend the night afraid to walk around my own house! Give me a funny movie, a friendly ghost, Scooby-Doo, Johnny Depp, or Ghostbusters, and I’m much happier.

So let’s look at what’s coming up, one movie at a time. I’ll tell you a little about each movie, share what I’m thinking, and invite you to join me. Who knows? Maybe we’ll find a few movies we can enjoy together! Or will I be to scared to join you? Only time will tell.

Times below are Central Time for my Texas readers. Please check local listings for any schedule changes.

Saturday, October 17 — Which Movies Will We Dare to Watch? Which movies if any will keep me up all night?

6:00 a.m. — Something Wicked This Way Comes– This 1983 Disney fantasy film follows two boys whose small town is visited by a mysterious carnival. Its sinister owner offers people their deepest desires, but the carnival comes with a frightening price.

I don’t remember seeing this movie, and I don’t know if David and Charlie have seen it, either. I’m not sure I’d watch it without finding out just how scary it gets! Have you seen it? Would you recommend it to somebody who likes Halloween but doesn’t want nightmares?

8:10 a.m. — Dark Shadows (2012)– Johnny Depp stars as Barnabas Collins, a vampire who wakes up after being buried for nearly two centuries and returns to his family’s troubled home. This Tim Burton comedy mixes vampires, witches, family drama, and plenty of unusual characters.

Now, I might have to think twice about this one! What if those characters are hiding around a corner, waiting to jump out and laugh at me? I might not sleep for a hundred years, and I might not leave my house! Laughing out loud. I don’t know if I’ll watch this one, but if I do, David and Charlie might need to sit beside me.

10:50 a.m. — Sleepy Hollow (1999)– Johnny Depp plays Ichabod Crane, a New York investigator sent to a small village to investigate a series of mysterious murders blamed on a headless horseman.

This is another movie I’ve wanted to watch all the way through. I know it’s a classic, but the headless horseman part does make me wonder whether I’ll spend the whole movie hiding behind the couch. Maybe I’ll give it a try with David and Charlie nearby. Would you watch it with me?

1:20 p.m. — Haunted Mansion (2023)– A woman and her son move into a mansion filled with supernatural surprises. They enlist a group of unusual experts to help remove the spirits haunting their home.

When I hear The Haunted Mansion, I immediately think of the Eddie Murphy movie! That one came out in 2003, so this 2023 version is a different movie. I’m curious to see what this one is like, but I may need to watch the Eddie Murphy version again, too. Have you seen either one?

4:00 p.m. — Hocus Pocus– Three witch sisters are accidentally brought back to life in Salem, Massachusetts, and a group of kids must figure out how to stop their magical plans.

You already know that Hocus Pocus is one of the movies I want to watch! It’s been on my list, and I’m hoping to catch up on it before Halloween. With all these showings, I might finally get my chance. Who wants to have a Hocus Pocus movie night with me?

6:10 p.m. — The Addams Family (1991)– The wonderfully strange Addams family welcomes a man claiming to be their long-lost Uncle Fester. But something about him isn’t quite right.

Now, this is the sort of unusual family that can make Halloween fun without requiring me to hide behind the couch. I enjoy the humor and the quirky characters. If you haven’t watched this version, it’s a good opportunity to spend some time with the Addams family again!

8:15 p.m. — Addams Family Values– The Addams family grows when Gomez and Morticia welcome a new baby. Meanwhile, Wednesday and Pugsley find themselves dealing with a new nanny and her own plans.

We’re getting another chance to visit the Addams family! These characters have their own way of doing things, and that’s part of the fun. If you’ve watched the first movie, why not stay for the sequel?

10:20 p.m. — Maleficent: Mistress of Evil– In this 2019 fantasy sequel, Maleficent’s relationship with Aurora is tested when Aurora becomes engaged to Prince Phillip and tensions rise between humans and magical creatures.

I’m still catching up on the Maleficent movies, so I need to make room for this one. I don’t know every detail of the story yet, but the fantasy setting makes me curious. Have you watched both movies? Which one did you enjoy more?

Sunday, October 18 — A Cute Little Dog, Johnny Depp, and Ghostbusters! Sounds like one heck of a movie day doesn’t it?

7:00 a.m. — Frankenweenie (2012)– After a young boy loses his beloved dog, Sparky, he uses science to bring him back to life. Unfortunately, the experiment doesn’t go quite as planned.

I haven’t seen this movie, but the title makes me think of a cute little dog! I need to find out more about it before deciding whether it’s for me. Want to watch it with me? We’ll find out together whether Sparky is as cute as I’m imagining!

9:00 a.m. — Edward Scissorhands– Johnny Depp stars as Edward, a gentle artificial man with scissors for hands who is taken into a suburban community and tries to find his place in the world.

Johnny Depp? Oh, we’re definitely, definitely, definitely watching this one! This movie has been on my list, and I want to sit down and enjoy it. I might even throw in some 21 Jump Street just for fun. Anyone want to join me? Or maybe not? Laughing out loud!

11:30 a.m. — Maleficent– This fantasy movie tells the story of Sleeping Beauty from Maleficent’s point of view, exploring how she became the powerful fairy known from the classic tale.

I need to catch up on the Maleficent movies because I don’t know all the details of her story. This is a good opportunity to start with the first one before watching the sequel. Who’s joining me for a fantasy movie afternoon?

1:35 p.m. — The Addams Family (1991)– The Addams family is back, with its unusual household, strange sense of humor, and the mystery surrounding the man claiming to be Uncle Fester.

We’ve already had the chance to watch this movie, and here it is again! Some movies are worth watching more than once, especially when they’re family favorites. Would you watch it again, too?

3:40 p.m. — Addams Family Values– The Addams family is dealing with a new baby, while Wednesday and Pugsley face adventures of their own. The family’s peculiar sense of humor is back for another round.

Since we’re already spending the day with the Addams family, we might as well watch the sequel! This is one of those movie afternoons when you can settle in, relax, and enjoy a familiar favorite.

5:45 p.m. — Casper (1995)– A friendly young ghost lives in a haunted mansion and hopes to make a friend. When a paranormal expert and his daughter arrive, Casper gets a chance to connect with someone living.

I love the idea of a friendly ghost, and this is a movie I’ve watched before. I wish we could invite my mom to join us because she really, really loved Casper. I mentioned that earlier, but it bears repeating because some movies bring back special memories of the people we love. Have you got a movie that always reminds you of somebody special?

8:15 p.m. — Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas– Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town and decides to bring Christmas to his own world. His plan leads to a rather unusual holiday adventure.

I always think that little white dog, Zero, is funny! I’ve still got to catch up on this movie, so maybe this is my chance. It’s a Tim Burton movie, and I’m curious to see the whole story. Want to watch it with me?

9:55 p.m. — Ghostbusters (2016)– In this reboot of the Ghostbusters story, a group of women investigate paranormal activity in New York City and form their own ghost-catching team.

Of course we’re watching Ghostbusters! You know I enjoy having this movie in the mix, and now we’ve got another version to watch. This could be a fun way to end our Sunday movie day.

Monday, October 19 — Toy Story, Scooby-Doo, Beetlejuice, and More!

10:00 a.m. — Ghostbusters (2016)

  • e team of paranormal investigators returns to tackle ghosts threatening New York City.

Ghostbusters again! Woohoo! At this rate, I’m going to have enough Ghostbusters to last me five years. Laughing out loud. But that’s okay because some movies are just fun to revisit. Who wants to join me?

1:00 p.m. — Toy Story of TERROR!– Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys find themselves caught up in a spooky adventure during a road trip. When one of the toys goes missing, the others must figure out what’s happening.

I’ve already told you what we need to do: have a whole Toy Story day! We’ll watch the Toy Story movies and catch up on the newest one that came out in theaters, which I didn’t get to see. We might as well make a whole day of it. Who’s bringing the snacks?

1:30 p.m. — Scooby-Doo (2002)– Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang reunite to investigate strange happenings at a tropical resort called Spooky Island.

Let’s have a Scooby-Doo day! We’ll get our Scooby snacks, find a Scooby-Doo blanket, cuddle up on the couch, and enjoy our movies. We don’t need to do anything else for a while. Doesn’t that sound like a perfect way to spend an afternoon?

3:30 p.m. — Casper (1995)– Casper is a friendly ghost who wants companionship, and his story brings together comedy, adventure, and a little bit of heart.

We’re getting another chance to watch Casper! As I said, I wish we could invite my mom to join us. She loved this movie, and watching it again is a lovely way to remember those special moments.

5:50 p.m. — Beetlejuice– A recently deceased couple hires an unpredictable ghost to scare away the new residents of their former home. Their plan brings plenty of strange, funny, and chaotic supernatural trouble.

Day-O, Day-O! Let’s have a Beetlejuice sing-along! David and Charlie will just love that. Laughing out loud. I can already imagine us singing along and laughing through the movie.

7:55 p.m. — Hocus Pocus– The three Sanderson sisters are back, causing magical mischief after being brought back to life in Salem.

And here’s Hocus Pocus again! Maybe I’ll finally get caught up on this movie before Halloween. With all these showings, surely I can find time to watch it. Have you watched it a hundred times, too, or are you still waiting for your first viewing?

Tuesday, October 20 — Toy Story Day and a Denton Halloween Outing!– 10:00 a.m. — Toy Story of TERROR! The toys find themselves in a spooky situation on a road trip, and the gang must work together to solve the mystery.

We’re starting with Toy Story again, and I’m not complaining! I’ve already decided we need a full Toy Story movie day, including the newer movie I missed in theaters. We can make popcorn, get comfortable, and watch the toys’ adventures from beginning to end.

10:30 a.m. — Scooby-Doo (2002)– The Mystery Inc. gang reunites to investigate the strange goings-on at Spooky Island.

Scooby-Doo is back, and I’ve already invited you to our movie fest! Let’s get those Scooby snacks ready. Charlie has always enjoyed Scooby-Doo, so this is one I’d love to watch with him.

12:30 p.m. — Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed– Scooby-Doo and the gang face a new mystery when costumed monsters come to life and threaten Coolsville.

Now we’ve got both Scooby-Doo movies! Let’s make a whole day of it. We’ll need snacks, a blanket, and plenty of time to solve mysteries with the gang. Who’s joining us?

2:30 p.m. — Beetlejuice– The mischievous ghost Beetlejuice returns to cause chaos for a living family occupying a house haunted by its former residents.

We need some Beetlejuice snacks! And before we settle in, how about going back to Denton? We can visit 31 Days of Halloween, walk around, and enjoy the movies, drinks, and food at that restaurant we ate at the other day. Then we can come home and put on Beetlejuice.

You know me: we can never have too much Halloween, as long as it’s not too scary!

4:30 p.m. — Ghostbusters: Afterlife– A family moves to a small town and discovers its connection to the original Ghostbusters and their legacy of catching ghosts.

I still need to catch up on this one. I may have missed parts of it, or perhaps I haven’t watched the whole movie. Either way, it’s time to find out what I’ve been missing. David and Charlie can help me get caught up!

7:25 p.m. — Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire– The Ghostbusters return to New York City, where a mysterious ancient artifact unleashes a supernatural threat that could plunge the world into a new ice age.

I still don’t understand how I missed part of Frozen Empire, but you know what? It’s okay. We’re going to catch up! Maybe watching it at home with David and Charlie is just what I need. Who wants to join our Ghostbusters marathon?

Wednesday, October 21 — Scooby-Doo, Johnny Depp, and More Ghostbusters!

9:30 a.m. — Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed– The Mystery Inc. gang investigates a series of monster appearances that threaten their hometown.

We’re having another Scooby-Doo day! I don’t think anybody can have too much Scooby-Doo, especially when you have snacks and a comfy blanket ready. Let’s see if we can solve the mystery before the gang does!

11:30 a.m. — Edward Scissorhands– Edward is a gentle artificial man whose scissor-shaped hands make ordinary life difficult, even as he tries to find friendship and acceptance.

Johnny Depp! Need I say more? Definitely watching! I’ve already told you this is on my list, and I’m not passing up another opportunity to see it. We may even add some 21 Jump Street to our Johnny Depp movie day.

1:55 p.m. — Ghostbusters: Afterlife– The family at the center of the story discovers its connection to the original Ghostbusters and begins uncovering the secrets left behind.

Here’s another chance for me to catch up! If I missed part of this movie the first time around, I can put it on again and make sure I see the whole thing. That’s one of the good things about these marathons.

4:45 p.m. — Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire– The Ghostbusters face another supernatural crisis after an ancient artifact unleashes a dangerous force in New York City.

And here we go again! We’re getting another chance to watch Frozen Empire. With all these showings, I might finally get both newer Ghostbusters movies checked off my list. Charlie and David, get ready!

7:20 p.m. — Haunted Mansion (2023)– A mother and son recruit a team of experts to help clear the ghosts from their new home, leading to a supernatural adventure filled with strange characters and surprises.

This is the newer Haunted Mansion, not the Eddie Murphy movie from 2003 that I remember. I still want to watch that Eddie Murphy version again, too. Maybe we should have a double feature and compare the two movies!

Thursday, October 22 — Hocus Pocus, Here We Come!

9:30 a.m. — Something Wicked This Way Comes– A mysterious carnival arrives in a small town, offering people what they desire while hiding a much darker purpose.

We’re getting another chance to watch this one, and I’m still not sure whether it’s for me. I need to find out a little more about how frightening it gets before deciding. If you’ve seen it, tell me what you think. Would I be hiding behind the couch?

11:35 a.m. — Little Shop of Horrors (1986)– A shy flower-shop employee discovers an unusual plant that grows by feeding on human blood. The plant brings him attention and success, but its appetite creates increasingly outrageous trouble.

I’ve heard of Little Shop of Horrors, but I’d want to know more about it before deciding whether to watch. It sounds unusual, and I don’t mind a little strange movie fun. I just need to know what I’m getting into! Have you seen it?

1:35 p.m. — Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas– Jack Skellington discovers Christmas Town and decides to take over the holiday, with unexpected results for Halloween Town and the world beyond.

There’s that little white dog again! I really need to sit down and watch the whole movie. Maybe this is the perfect afternoon to do it. Want to watch it with me?

3:10 p.m. — Casper (1995)– Casper is a friendly ghost who wants a friend, and his story combines supernatural comedy with a heartfelt look at friendship and family.

I could watch Casper again and again. And I still wish we could invite my mom to watch it with us because she loved this movie so much. Some movies aren’t just entertainment; they bring back memories of people we miss.

5:30 p.m. — Hocus Pocus– The Sanderson sisters return to cause trouble after a teenager accidentally brings them back to life.

Here comes Hocus Pocus again! I need to catch up on this one, and I’m glad Freeform keeps giving me opportunities. Who wants to watch it with me? Bring your own snacks, because I can’t promise Charlie and I will share!

7:35 p.m. — Hocus Pocus 2– The Sanderson sisters return in this sequel, where a new group of teenagers accidentally brings the witches back to Salem.

And now we have Hocus Pocus 2! I’m not sure whether I’ve seen this one, so it’s going on my catch-up list. With both movies airing, we could make it a double feature and watch them back to back.

Halloween Is Almost Here, and Christmas Is Right Behind It! We’ve covered six days of Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween, and I’ve got plenty of movies to catch up on. Some are familiar favorites, some bring back special memories, and others are waiting for me to decide whether I’m brave enough to watch them!

I’m looking forward to family movie nights with David and Charlie, a Scooby-Doo day with snacks and blankets, a Beetlejuice sing-along, and finally catching up on some of those Ghostbusters movies. But the countdown is on! I need to fit these movies in before Halloween arrives because, the day after Halloween, we’re going full-force Christmas at my house. Woohoo! Christmas! Yay, yay, yay! I can’t wait!

Now tell me, which of these movies would you watch with me? Which ones have you seen a hundred times, and which ones are still waiting on your watch list? Come join us for a movie night. Pajamas are welcome, cute Halloween costumes are fine, and friendly ghosts are always invited. Just bring your own snacks and beverages. I make no promises about sharing!

Official schedule: Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween 2026. The times above are converted from Eastern to Central Time. Programming is subject to change.

Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.
