Welcome back, buttercups! We’re back with more of Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween. We’ve already covered Days 1–15, and now we’re catching up on the movies scheduled for October 16 through October 20. Before you say we already discussed this movie and this movie I understand that because I felt the same way but it gives people the chance who missed the movies earlier in the month another chance to watch them. Pull up a chair and grab your favorite beverage and lets see what’s playing.
We’re going to take each day in order, starting with the first movie and working our way through the entire schedule before moving on to the next day. That way, if you want to find a particular movie, you’ll know exactly where to look. Let’s grab our popcorn and snack and beverage and get started!
Day 16 — Friday, October 16– For most families Fridays can become busy as you try and wrap thing up for the week but once its all done come and join me for a movie or two.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street — I’ve heard of Sweeney Todd, but I have absolutely no clue who he is, what he is, or why people would watch him. LOL How about you? I think I’ve heard David and Charlie talking about him, though, and David has probably watched him but as for Charlie only God know and Charlie God only knows!
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street — I’ve heard of Sweeney Todd, but I have absolutely no clue who he is, what he is, or why people would watch him. LOLDo you I think I’ve heard David and Charlie talking about him, though, and David has probably watched him. With those two, God only knows!
Edward Scissorhands — We’ve been discussing this movie throughout our earlier posts. You already know I’m thinking about hosting a Johnny Depp movie night, and Edward Scissorhands is definitely going to be playing. Come on over! Just bring your own snacks, because I don’t share.
Dark Shadows (2012) — The title almost sounds like a Batman movie to me. I don’t know what it’s about, and I don’t think I’ve seen it. Charlie and David may know all about it, though. They watch things I would never think of watching! Have you seen this movie? Is it scary?
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas — I’m still not sure whether I’ve watched this movie all the way through, but it’s a Tim Burton movie, so you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to watch it. I may need someone to sit next to me, though. Anybody want to volunteer?
Sleepy Hollow (1999) — I’ve already told you I haven’t watched the entire movie, but I need to because it’s a classic story. David and Charlie can join me, too, if they haven’t already seen it. Knowing them, they probably have! I may still end up hiding behind the couch, laughing out loud.
Coven Academy — This is another title my family wasn’t familiar with. We may or may not check it out. If you’ve watched it, let me know what you think.
Day 17 — Saturday, October 17
Something Wicked This Way Comes — I don’t know much about this movie, so I’d have to look it up and find out what it’s about before deciding whether to watch it. I’d especially like to know how scary it is! I don’t think I’ve watched it, and I’m not sure whether David and Charlie have, either. Have you seen it? Tell me what you think.
Dark Shadows (2012) — We’ve already shared my thoughts about this one. I’m still curious about the movie, so I’ll have to learn more before deciding whether it’s something I’d enjoy.
Sleepy Hollow (1999) — This is another opportunity to watch a classic story I’ve been meaning to see from beginning to end. Maybe this will be the showing that finally gets me to sit down and watch it!
Haunted Mansion (2023) — We’ve talked about the Haunted Mansion movies in our earlier posts. I’ll have to decide when to make time for this version, too.
Hocus Pocus — I still want to watch Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2 properly. I’m not sure how much of the first movie I’ve seen, and I’d love to watch both films together. If you have suggestions for watching them without adding another streaming subscription, let me know!
The Addams Family (1991) — David and Charlie are big Addams Family fans. This is the kind of movie that could easily become part of a family marathon at our house.
Addams Family Values (1993) — Naturally, if we’re watching The Addams Family, we need to make room for Addams Family Values, too. Why stop after one movie when we can keep the fun going?
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil — My best friend Debbie loves the queen, and I’ve already talked about wanting to explore the Maleficent movies. I’ll have to make time for this one, too.
We’ve covered these titles in earlier posts, so I’m carrying our previous thoughts forward rather than making you read the same stories all over again.
Day 18 — Sunday, October 18
Frankenweenie (2012) — I still think this movie sounds like it could be funny, and I definitely need to see it! Have you watched it? Tell me what you think, because I want to find out whether my guess is right.
Edward Scissorhands — It’s back again, and you already know it’s on my Johnny Depp movie-night list.
Maleficent — We’ve discussed the Maleficent movies before, and I still want to explore them. Debbie’s love of the queen makes me even more curious.
The Addams Family (1991) — You know David and Charlie enjoy the Addams Family. This is another chance to revisit a family favorite.
Addams Family Values (1993) — If we’re going to have an Addams Family movie night, this one belongs on the list, too.
Casper (1995) — Casper is one of my all-time favorites! We’ve watched the Casper movies so many times that I’d happily watch them again. Some movies just hold a special place in your heart.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas — I really think I need to sit down and watch this one all the way through. Anyone want to keep me company?
Ghostbusters (2016) — I could end up having a Ghostbusters festival instead! We enjoy these movies, and there’s always room for another Ghostbusters movie night at our house. How about you? Would you choose Ghostbusters or The Nightmare Before Christmas?
Remember, families get busy. If you missed any of these movies during an earlier showing, here’s another opportunity to catch them. Tell me which one you’d most like to watch, and I’ll happily sit down with you!
Day 19 — Monday, October 19
Ghostbusters (2016) — Another opportunity for Ghostbusters! We could easily turn this into a whole movie day.
Toy Story of Terror! — I’m still not sure whether I’ve watched this one, so I think I’ll capture Charlie and see if he’ll watch it with me.
Scooby-Doo (2002) — In our house, you don’t just watch Scooby-Doo; you eat, live, and breathe Scooby-Doo! David and Charlie are big fans, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Charlie joined me for this one.
Casper (1995) — Here comes another chance to watch one of my favorites. I could happily have a Casper marathon and revisit the other Casper movies, too.
Beetlejuice — Of course! David loves Beetlejuice, and it’s a favorite in our household. We can watch it any time of year, not just Halloween.
Hocus Pocus — I still want to make time for Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2. Monday sounds like a good day to put the movies on while I work. They can play in the background, and I can take a break when something catches my attention. Unless you want to come over and watch with me! We all deserve a break once in a while.
Day 20 — Tuesday, October 20
Toy Story of Terror! — It’s back again, so here’s another opportunity to find out whether I’ve watched it before. Maybe Charlie will join me, or maybe I’ll put it on while I’m working.
Scooby-Doo (2002) — You already know what happens when Scooby-Doo comes on at our house. We may start with one movie, but that doesn’t mean we’ll stop there!
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed — If I’m going to watch Scooby-Doo, you can bet your bottom dollar we’re going to watch Scooby-Doo 2, too. And we might end up watching four or five other Scooby-Doo movies before David and Charlie are finished. Laughing out loud!
Beetlejuice — You can watch Beetlejuice just about any time at our house. It’s one of David’s favorites, and we never need much convincing to revisit it.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife — We’re definitely going to watch this one. If we’re planning a Ghostbusters festival, this movie belongs on the list.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire — And why stop there? We may throw in one or two more Ghostbusters movies, too. If you love Ghostbusters as much as we do, come and join us!
David is off on Wednesday, so who knows? We may end up watching movies all day. You may not want to talk to us because we’ll be busy with Scooby-Doo, Beetlejuice, and Ghostbusters! Of course, I don’t mind having a movie night by myself, either. Sometimes it’s nice to sit down, actually watch the movie, hear what everyone is saying, and not worry about anybody talking or stealing my snacks. Unless it’s one of the dogs.
And yes, that happens more times than not! They like popcorn, too. Did I say they need popcorn? No. I just said they like popcorn. And if I let them, I’m sure they’d eat the chocolate, too. But when you have chocolate, you don’t share. Or do you? Or do they just try and take it?
There you have it, buttercups! Five more days of Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween, filled with movies we’ve watched, movies we want to watch, and movies we still need to learn more about. I’m ready for my Johnny Depp movie night, a Scooby-Doo marathon, and a Ghostbusters festival. David and Charlie may have their own ideas, and the dogs will probably be waiting for somebody to drop the popcorn.
What about you? Which movie from October 16 through October 20 would you most like to watch? Tell me in the comments, and let me know if you’d join me for a movie night. Bring your own snacks and beverages, because I can’t promise Charlie and I will share. I also can’t promise we won’t have hot chocolate, even though hot chocolate belongs during Christmas. Sometimes you just have to break the rules!
We still have more of Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween to cover, so stay tuned. We’ll keep catching up on the schedule, one group of days at a time. Just remember, we have to finish our Halloween fun before Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, there isn’t any Halloween at my house. It’s Christmas 24/7!
Please check Freeform’s official schedule for the confirmed movie lineup and broadcast times before publication, as programming can change.
Grateful, Thankful, Blessed.
