Friendsgiving in North Texas: A Family-Friendly Fall Day Trip to Prosper, Texas

My family has been thinking more and more about the holidays especially Halloween which is right around the corner. Then when I was online this morning I heard someone say #Friendsgiving and my family has never really thought about sharing anything for Friendsgiving. But you know what? The more I thought about it, the more it meant to me because of all my friends and family.

So today, I found a family-friendly event that I wanted to share with you. But before I do, I have a question for you. What does Friendsgiving mean to you? What does it make you think of? Haver you, your friends or family even celebrated Friendsgiving or would you want to?

For me, for some reason, it makes me think of the Friends television show and the football game they always play during #Thaksgiving. Do you play touch football during the holidays? Because our family used to, but now that Charlie is getting older, that tradition has kind of stopped.

And that got me thinking. Just because our children grow up and some of our old traditions change doesn’t mean we can’t make new memories together. So this year, I want to start some new traditions with my family. One of those is to attend a couple of Friendsgiving events, including the family-friendly event I’m sharing with you today.

I’d love to make it an opportunity to spend time with friends and family, laugh together, and enjoy something a little different during the holiday season. Would you like to join us? Let’s make Friendsgiving about more than a date on the calendar. Let’s make it about the people we love, the friends who feel like family, and the memories we’re still making.

Foer those of us who aren’t familiar with Friendsgiving it is a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends, family, or a combination of both. Some people gather around a table for a potluck dinner, while others plan an outing, play games, watch football, or simply enjoy spending time together.

I think one of the sweetest things about Friendsgiving is that it doesn’t have to look the same for every family. You can carry on traditions you’ve enjoyed for years, start something completely new, or invite people into your life who have become family along the way.

And you don’t necessarily have to wait until Thanksgiving Day to celebrate! A fall event can be a wonderful excuse to gather your favorite people and make a few memories before the holiday rush begins. Come and share ways and events my family can use in our Friendsgiving celebration.

In our home, we enjoy taking day trips. We don’t always have to plan a big vacation or travel far away to find something fun to do together. Sometimes, all it takes is finding something new to explore and making a day of it. When I first came across the Friendsgiving event in Prosper, I actually stopped and thought, “Hmm, where is Prosper? I don’t remember where that is!”

So, of course, I had to look it up. And guess what? It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump down the road! According to an online driving estimate, Prosper is about 47 miles from North Richland Hills, with a drive of around 56 minutes without stops. Of course, traffic and your starting point can make a difference.

That makes this Friendsgiving celebration sound like a perfect day trip for our family. We can head out, stop for a quick bit to eat and then head on to the event to enjoy an afternoon of fall activities, listen to some music, grab a bite to eat, and spend time together before heading home.

I don’t know about you but I love finding events like this because they give us a reason to get out of the house, explore another North Texas community, and make memories without having to plan an entire weekend away. And who knows? Maybe Prosper will become one of those places we discover because of an event and then remember when we’re looking for another little adventure!

That’s one of the things I enjoy about sharing local events here on Greatful Moments. Maybe an event like Prosper on the Plaza: Friendsgiving! catches my eye will be something you and your family would enjoy, too. What Can You Do at Friendsgiving on the Plaza?– This isn’t just an opportunity to get out of the house. The event has several activities planned to help friends and families enjoy an autumn afternoon together.

Enjoy Live Bluegrass Music– Music can make an ordinary afternoon feel like a celebration. A live bluegrass band is scheduled to perform throughout the event, providing a festive soundtrack while everyone enjoys the plaza. Bring your friends, find a place to enjoy the music, and take a little time to slow down before the busy Thanksgiving week arrives.

Explore a Giant Inflatable Corn Maze: If your family enjoys a little fall adventure, a giant inflatable corn maze is on the schedule. It could be a fun way for kids and their grown-ups to explore together and share a few laughs.

Visit the Petting Zoo; Animal lovers may enjoy the planned petting zoo. It’s another activity that can make the event especially appealing to families with children.

Get Festive With Face Painting: Face painting is also planned, giving little ones a chance to add a bit of colorful fun to their Friendsgiving afternoon.

Play Lawn Games Together: Remember when getting together meant playing games, laughing, and seeing who could win? The event will include lawn games, giving friends and families another way to spend time together. And who knows? Maybe your family will start its own little competition. You might not be playing touch football like we used to, but you can always find a new game to enjoy together!

Take a Friendsgiving Photo: A Friendsgiving-themed photo entrance is planned, too. It’s a chance to capture a picture with the people who came along and save a little reminder of your fall outing. Sometimes the photos we take during ordinary family days become the memories we treasure most.

Grab Something From a Food Truck; All that exploring and playing can work up an appetite! Food trucks are scheduled to offer a variety of food during the event. Food and purchases from vendors may cost extra, so plan accordingly. If you’re watching your holiday budget, it’s always a good idea to decide ahead of time what you’d like to spend.

Who Should You Invite to Friendsgiving? Here’s where I think the fun begins!

You could invite your best friend, your sister, your brother, your grown children, your neighbors, or the people who have become part of your family over the years. You could make it a family outing, meet another family there, or use it as an opportunity to spend time with friends you don’t get to see often enough.

If you have children, let them help choose who to invite. If your children are older, as mine is, perhaps you can ask them what kind of traditions they’d like to start. And if you’re someone who sometimes feels as though the holidays have become all about shopping, cooking, cleaning, and trying to get everything done, consider making room for an afternoon of simply enjoying the people around you. You don’t need to host a big dinner or have a perfectly decorated house to make a memory. Sometimes all it takes is showing up and spending time together.

As our families grow and change, our traditions can change, too. Children get older. Schedules get busier. The things we once did every holiday may slowly become memories we look back on instead of activities we still do. That doesn’t mean those traditions weren’t special. It simply means we’re in a different season of life.

For our family, playing touch football was once part of the holidays. Now that Charlie is older, that tradition has faded. But I don’t want that to mean we stop making memories together. I want to find new things to do, new places to explore, and new ways to bring friends and family together. That’s one reason this Friendsgiving event caught my attention.

I may not know exactly what our new traditions will look like yet, but I know I want to make room for them. And I hope this gives you an idea, too. Maybe your family will enjoy this event, or perhaps it will inspire you to plan a Friendsgiving of your own.

Now I want to hear from you!: What does Friendsgiving mean to you? Does it make you think of a big meal with friends, a football game, the Friends television show, or simply a chance to spend time with people you love? Do you play touch football during the holidays? Does your family have a Friendsgiving tradition already, or are you thinking about starting one this year?

And if you decide to check out Prosper on the Plaza: Friendsgiving!, I’d love to hear what you think! You can find the details and registration information through the Town of Prosper’s official event listing.

Here at Greatful Moments, I believe life is made up of the little moments we share with the people we love. Some traditions stay with us for a lifetime, while others make room for something new.

This year, I’m looking forward to finding a few new ways to celebrate with my friends and family. After all, we can be Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed while making room for a few more memories along the way.

So, would you like to join us?

Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.
