As a child I remember hearing about #Bonnie&Clyde but didn’t really follow there story. Then when David and I got together the were someone he would always talk about because there are some stories that just seem to stick with you for David that was Bonnie & Clyde.
When I saw that Bonnie & Clyde Days was coming back to Pilot Point, I immediately thought about David and how much he has always been interested in Bonnie and Clyde, their story, and the history surrounding them. That is what caught my attention about this event. It isn’t simply another festival to put on the calendar. It is a chance to take a family day trip, step back in time, and learn a little Texas history while having fun together. And for our family, that makes it even more interesting.
Bonnie & Clyde Days Is Coming to Pilot Point– On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Bonnie & Clyde Days will take over the Historic Downtown Square in Pilot Point from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. The festival is a free family-friendly event hosted by Pilot Point’s Main Street Program.
Pilot Point has a special connection to the Bonnie and Clyde story. The 1967 movie Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, filmed the famous bank-robbery scene at the historic Farmers & Merchants Bank Building in Pilot Point. But the connection isn’t only Hollywood.
According to the City of Pilot Point and the Texas Film Commission, Pilot Point and surrounding communities were also associated with the real Bonnie and Clyde and the Barrow Gang. That combination of real Texas history and movie history is what makes this such an interesting event for families. Especially if your #Homeschooling your children.
One of the things I have always loved about homeschooling is that learning doesn’t have to happen sitting at a desk with a textbook. Sometimes you can get in the car and go somewhere. You can stand in a historic downtown. You can see an old building. You can watch a reenactment. You can look at the cars people drove during the time period you’re learning about. And suddenly history becomes something you can see instead of something you are simply reading about.
Bonnie & Clyde Days offers that kind of opportunity. The festival will feature a bank-robbery reenactment, Model A cars, historic exhibits and a History Walk connected to the filming of Bonnie and Clyde. The movie will also be shown during the festival. Which will be fun for me because I’ve never seen the movie have you? Plus, a nice surprise for David.
For families with children who enjoy history, old cars, movies, or stories about the past, there are plenty of ways to turn a day at the festival into an informal history lesson. And even for older kids and young adults, I think there is something special about visiting a place where a piece of North Texas history actually happened.

What Can Families Expect? The 2026 schedule includes two bank-robbery reenactments at the Farmers & Merchants Bank Building, beginning at 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. There will also be live entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening.
The schedule includes:
- Vince Lujan and Tabitha Tepfer
- Starbright Center for the Arts
- Apex Tumbling
- A Taylor Swift tribute band
- Hotel Mac Doobie, performing classic rock
- Texoma Pro Wrestling
- A pie-eating contest
Families can also check out the Model A cars on Main Street which you know Davi, Charlie and I will enjoy,. you can visit the Kids Zone, browse vendors which I can’t wait to check out, and enjoy food Charlie is excited about and drinks throughout the event.
The Kids Zone is scheduled for 2–7 p.m. and will include activities such as a Ninja Project Obstacle Course and other children’s entertainment. There will also be a Friends of the Library book sale because you can never have too many books or can you? The Clifton & Nadene Irick Museum is listed as an attraction, with details still to be announced.
As you know I’ve lived in the Fort Worth area all my life and so has David and this makes the Bonnie and Clyde story especially interesting to me. Bonnie and Clyde weren’t simply names from an old movie. Their story is part of the history and lore of North Texas.
Fort Worth, the Stockyards and communities throughout North Texas have their own connections to the Bonnie and Clyde story. That makes a trip to Pilot Point feel like more than simply attending a festival. It is another opportunity to explore the history that surrounds the place where we live.
And that is something I think families sometimes overlook. We don’t always have to travel hundreds of miles to find history. Sometimes it is right here in North Texas. For our family, I’m looking at Bonnie & Clyde Days as a possible family day trip and a way to get my family outside to explore a new place.
We haven’t attended the festival yet, so I can’t tell you what our own experience will be. But I can tell you that the event has already caught our attention. David would love the Bonnie and Clyde history. I love the opportunity to combine a family outing with something educational.
And there is something about getting Charlie involved in these kinds of experiences that I appreciate. Even though he is older now, learning doesn’t stop just because someone has graduated from #homeschool. We can still explore. We can still discover something new. And we can still make memories together. That is one of the things I love most about family adventures.
If you’re looking for something different to do with your family this October, Bonnie & Clyde Days may be worth adding to your calendar. The event takes place Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2–9 p.m. at the Historic Downtown Square in Pilot Point, Texas.
Admission to the festival is free, and there is plenty to see and do without turning the day into a major vacation. For us, it is the personal connection that makes this one stand out. David has always been fascinated by Bonnie and Clyde, and now we have the opportunity to take something he has been interested in for years and turn it into a family experience.
Maybe we’ll make the drive to Pilot Point. Maybe we’ll spend a few hours walking around the square, watching the reenactment, looking at the old cars, learning more about the movie and the history, and grabbing something to eat. And maybe we’ll come home with a few photographs, a little more Texas history, and another family memory.
**Sometimes the best history lessons aren’t found in a book. Sometimes you just have to get in the car and go find them.**
