I made plans last night for my family but because I forgot to consult the LORD I feel taken, and frustrated with Charlie. Don’t get talking to me about that this morning, but of course he stayed up all night on his game, so he’s sleeping. God only knows what time he’ll get up today.
So I guess I’ll go make me a cup of coffee because, for my coffee, I need more cream and sugar and a tiny little bit of coffee. I’m not fancy. I don’t need a frappé or a cappuccino or an iced coffee or something from Dutch Bros or Starbucks. Just give me a Great Value coffee pod or Folger’s if I’m lucky and leave me alone, and I’ll be set for the day.
But being National Frappé Day, I thought I could surprise David and Charlie because they both like the iced coffee from Dutch Bros. It might not have been a frappé — which don’t even ask me what that is because I honestly don’t know — but it would have been a nice treat for them.
So instead, I’m just going to sit here and start working this morning, and maybe if Charlie meanders out of his room sometime today, we’ll go get that frappé. If not, maybe I’ll try and make one at home and surprise Charlie but that demands on what David has planned for today.
Did you know you can buy iced coffee already made at — I think it’s Dollar General oir it might be Family Dollor only God knows where I saw it the other day. I’m sure you can buy it other places too. That got me thinking: How hard can it really be to make a frappé at home?
I don’t have one of those fancy coffee machines sitting on my counter. I have a coffee pot. And honestly, that’s about the extent of my coffee-making equipment. So I looked around to see how you can make a frappé at home without a fancy machine and I found out I can do it.
From what I found, you can make a simple homemade frappé with things you may already have in your kitchen:
- Cold coffee
- Ice
- Milk or cream
- Sugar or your favorite sweetener
- Coffee syrup or flavored creamer
- A blender
And that’s really about it. You can even use leftover coffee. In fact, I think that’s probably the way I would do it. Make my regular morning coffee, put whatever I don’t drink in the refrigerator, and later turn it into a cold coffee treat. Before I do that though I better add a Blender to my Christmas Wish List because we don’t have one and if I’m helping SANTA load the Sleigh this year I shoudl get something I want. Shouldn’t I?
Now, if I’m making one for David or Charlie, I’m thinking French vanilla or caramel. I’m not even going to pretend I know all the fancy coffee flavors because I don’t. Give me a bottle of French vanilla creamer and I’m happy.
Easy Homemade French Vanilla Frappé
Ingredients
- 1 cup cold brewed coffee
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1–2 tablespoons French vanilla creamer
- 1–2 tablespoons sugar, if needed
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups ice
- Whipped cream, optional
- A little caramel or chocolate syrup, optional
Directions
Put the cold coffee, milk, French vanilla creamer, sugar and ice into a blender. Blend until it’s smooth and frothy. Pour it into a glass and add whipped cream if you want to get fancy.
And if you want to make it a caramel frappé, add a little caramel syrup before blending and drizzle some over the top. That’s it. No fancy coffee machine required.
And If Charlie Never Gets Up… Well, I guess I’ll have a frappé waiting for him whenever he finally decides to emerge from his room. Or maybe I’ll just drink it myself. Not.. I will give it to David and stick to my ol’ fashion Coffee. After all, it’s National Frappé Day, and apparently that’s a good enough reason to treat yourself to something a little different.
Even if you normally just want a Great Value coffee pod, plenty of cream, plenty of sugar, and just a tiny little bit of coffee. That’s my kind of coffee. And if David and Charlie want the fancy stuff, maybe today I’ll learn how to make it for them. Maybe. But first… I need my coffee.
