Good Morning Wednesday โ˜•๐Ÿ’™

Good Morning Wednesday from our little corner of the world. It’s 6am and all is right in my world as everyone is asleep and David is home this morning. I love these mornings when I get up and look at the bed and David and the dogs are asleep then I walk into Charlie’s room and he is asleep while Gerald is downstairs sleeping.

I just wish Charlie would try and turn our home into a Icebox before he goes to bed at night because the cold makes me hurt. Does it bother you? I’,m not sure what the plans for today is other than were supposed to go to Lunch with my best friend Debbie and my family to Pancho’s. Would you want to come with us?

Yesterday was one of those days where things didn’t go exactly the way I had planned, but that’s life around here. More times than not. Is it this way in your home? Dinner was supposed to be something David cooked, but by the time evening rolled around, David was tired and didn’t feel like cooking. So dinner changed to Sonic hamburgers. Sometimes you just have to change the plan and feed everybody. Especially when Hamburgers are half-price.

But there was another little lesson happening in our house yesterday, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t finished yet. David had borrowed some money from Charlie and was supposed to pay him back today when he got his check. Now you might ask how Charlie got money and it was a gift Charlie had received for graduating from School way back yonder from his Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Karen.

The problem was that Charlie wanted his money back while David was asleep. Why he couldn’t wait until today I have no, clue but as a mom at midnight you pick your battles. So I had him use David’s card. And instead of helping with the car payment or insurance โ€” things we actually need the money for โ€” he spent most of that $50 on games.

Let’s just say David is going to be mad when he finds out. And I’m not exactly thrilled either. Especially because Charlie knows we have lunch today. He wanted to go, and his friends are having to buy their own lunches. He should have money for his lunch, too.

And then we have two movie premieres this week and as a mom I already know he’s going to want a drink. He’s going to want a snack. And I’m starting to feel like I’m done. Because spending your money on games doesn’t mean Mom and Dad automatically have to buy your food, drinks and snacks afterward.

Sometimes you have to learn that money is gone when you spend it. And there are consequences to choices. But the sad part is Charlie not being able to get the snacks he wants means I will not get the Popcorn I like because I’ve always been told not to eat in front of others so I will pas on my snacks to keep drama down.

Of course, I also have to admit that the day before wasn’t exactly all bad. Charlie woke me up at 5:00 in the morning because he thought I might want a donut.I didn’t have any money and I told Charlie that. Charlie said I will pay for one Donnut. Thank you, but no, thank you.

I knew I would never hear the end of it if he spend his money on me. Besides he didn’t want a Donut he just wanted me to get up and make Coffee. Like I told David I had been there before bought the T Shirt and wore it and wasn’t doing it again. Instead I went back to sleep and so did Charlie.

Charlie let me know he wanted up between 9 and 10am and would I make Coffee. 10am came and I stopped working to make the coffee he asked me for. He wouldn’t get up. So I ended up drinking the coffee even though I didn’t want it so it wouldn’t go to waste.

Later, I had to stop working again to make him lunch because he couldn’t get off his game long enough to do it himself โ€” even though I was working and the Coffee he didn’t get that morning. Again I was working and had to stop because its not worth the drama not to do what Charlie wants.

Then, when David was going to Sonic, Charlie couldn’t go because he was playing his game. So I had to stop work again and I went with David. Sometimes being a mom means you stop what you’re doing over and over and over again because somebody needs something.

And sometimes you finally have to say, No. My question is when does that time come? But then there was one bright spot. When we got back, Charlie had cleaned the restroom. Was it perfectly cleaned? No. Not even close. He only halfway cleaned it. But you know what? Some is better than nothing in this house.

And that’s why I pick my battles. I’m learning that not every mess needs to become an argument. Sometimes you celebrate the little bit of effort, even when you know there’s more work that could have been done. Parenting isn’t about winning every battle. It’s about deciding which lessons are worth fighting for.

And today, I think one of those lessons might be learning that when you spend your money on games, you don’t get to magically make it reappear when you want lunch, a movie snack or a drink. There are lessons we learn the easy way. And then there are the ones we learn because Mom finally says, “Nope. You’ve got this one.”

So good morning Wednesday. I’m drinking my coffee, trying to get my work done, and taking this crazy life one lesson โ€” and one Sonic hamburger โ€” at a time. Which is how I stay Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed and keep this circle unbroken because this is my Circus and these are my Monkies.
