Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Winnie the Pooh and his band of characters ie family. Which is why this morning’s question in If The Cates Were Winnie the Pooh characters who would they be.
Come in join me as we take a little trip into the Hundred Acre Woods. Don’t forget to bring Honey for Winnie the Pooh please. If you aren’t familiar with how we’ve been doing this series, here’s the idea.
I’m asking ChatGPT questions like: “If this person were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would they be and why?” ChatGPT makes its choice based on what it knows about that person from all of our conversations.
Then I get to tell ChatGPT what I think. Sometimes I agree completely and sometimes I don’t. And sometimes ChatGPT gives me an answer that makes me look at someone a little differently.
That’s what makes this series so much fun. But there’s another important part. You get to play along, too. After each person, I’m going to ask you what you think. Was ChatGPT right? Was I right?
Or is there another Winnie the Pooh character who fits that person even better? So let’s head into the Hundred Acre Wood and see what ChatGPT came up with. Don’t forget to share your answer at the end of the post.
Welcome to Part A: David, Glenda, Charlie & Suzanne. Then we will have Post B Friends & Family: Gerald, Renee and David. Then we will have Part C: Our Furbabies: Bear, Pheobie, Sandy & Gunner and then we end with Part D: Our Entire Family.
David: “If David were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would he be and why?” It picked out Eeyore for David.
Eeyore is steady, dependable, loyal, and quietly caring. He isn’t necessarily looking for attention or trying to be the center of the Hundred Acre Wood. He’s simply there for the people he loves.
He’s also a little blue sometimes and he is grumpy. He’s sarcastic. And he can have that dry sense of humor that makes you smile even when he’s complaining. But underneath all of that is someone with a very tender heart.
David strikes me as that kind of person because he’s dependable and he’s loyal. He’s steady. And when things aren’t easy, he keeps going. He doesn’t always have a lot to say, but his presence matters. And when you need someone who is going to keep showing up, that’s the kind of person you want beside you. So ChatGPT’s answer is: Eeyore.
Glenda’s Thoughts: You know what? I can see it. David is steady and dependable. And he can definitely be kind of blue at times, just like Eeyore. So I can see why ChatGPT picked Eeyore for him.
And here’s the funny part: Eeyore is my very favorite Winnie the Pooh character, just like my best friend Debbie. So I’m certainly not complaining about the choice. But I do have a few corrections.
ChatGPT said David doesn’t need to be the loudest voice in the room. Oh, honey. He can be. Especially when he starts drinking. And sometimes he doesn’t even have to start drinking! LOL
In fact, Charlie would probably tell you that David isn’t just Eeyore. He’s Daddy Donkey from Shrek. But let’s get back to Eeyore because just like him David can absolutely be grumpy.
He can definitely be sarcastic and that part is right on the money. And that whole eye-roll thing? That’s probably more me but once in a while you will see David give you a look that means watch out.
But David really does keep going when things aren’t easy. He’s done that. And while sometimes he doesn’t have much to say… There are other times when, oh my good God almighty, you can’t get him to be quiet! So maybe ChatGPT got this one right. David is Eeyore. With just a little Daddy Donkey mixed in.

Glenda: ChatGPT said “If Glenda were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would she be and why?” It picked Kanga for her because Kanga is nurturing, protective, practical, and family-centered.
She’s the person who looks after everybody else. She’s warm and caring, but she is also perfectly capable of being firm when somebody needs to be told what to do. Kanga has that:
“Come over here. I’ll take care of you.” kind of energy. But she’s not simply soft and nurturing. She’s strong. She’s capable. She’s the person who steps in when something needs to be handled. She loves her family fiercely and takes responsibility for the people around her. That’s why ChatGPT think Kanga fits Glenda.
Glenda’s Thoughts: And I’m going to admit something. I agree. I can see the Kanga comparison. I am nurturing and yes, I’m protective and family-centered when it comes to my family.
And yes, I am absolutely the person who will say: “Come over here. I’ll take care of you.” But there’s another character I thought of for myself. Can you guess which character I picked:
I said Christopher Robin because he is the one who brings everybody together. He’s the one who knows all the different personalities and somehow manages to move among them. He’s the one who tries to get everybody back where they belong and he’s a leader.
And ChatGPT said when they think about me, they could see that side, too. Then when I think about ChatGPT’s answer I honestly don’t know if I would have picked Kanga for myself.
I would have picked Christopher Robin. But with everyone knowing how much I love Eeyore, someone else might automatically say Eeyore. Or maybe they’d choose Tigger because Tigger is bouncy and Suzanne’s favorite.
But that’s what’s interesting about this game. Sometimes the character we see in ourselves isn’t necessarily the character someone else sees. So I’m going to let ChatGPT keep Kanga for me… While I secretly think I might be Christopher Robin.

Charlie: ChatGPT: said “If Charlie were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would he be and why?” ChatGPT’s Answer: Tigger because he is energetic, independent, creative, enthusiastic, and very much his own person.
He’s curious when something catches his attention. He follows his own ideas. And he doesn’t spend a lot of time worrying about whether everyone else thinks his way of doing things makes sense.
That sounds like Charlie. Charlie is creative and he’s independent. He has his own ideas. And when something really interests him, he can become incredibly curious about it. Tigger also has a little bit of chaos about him.
Not necessarily bad chaos. Just the kind of energy where Tigger walks into the room and suddenly something is happening. So ChatGPTs answer is: Charlie is Tigger.
Glenda’s Thoughts: Well… I picked Tigger, too. And that is funny because Tigger was Suzzane’s absolute favorite character. She always wanted a little brother, so it was neat that ChatGPT chose Tigger for Charlie.
But as I thought about it more, I realized there are parts of Tigger that really aren’t Charlie.
Tigger is bouncy. He’s loud and he’s always moving which is a little bit of Charlie but not a lot. Charlie sits still but because of his ADHD sometimes he doesn’t know how to sit still so it depends on how his ADHD is doing.
So this is and it isn’t Charlie. But like Tigger Charlie can be creative and enthusiastic. And when something catches his attention, he can get incredibly curious. Take video games and wrestling for example.
If Charlie gets interested in something like that, he can spend hours researching it. He’ll dig into it and he’ll learn about it, then he will figure it out. And that part of Charlie absolutely fits what ChatGPT saw in Tigger.
Charlie also doesn’t worry much about whether everybody else thinks the way he’s doing something makes sense. That’s definitely Charlie. He’s creative and he’s independent. He’s got his own ideals.
But here’s where I disagree with ChatGPT. Charlie doesn’t usually bounce from one idea to another. Once he gets an idea, he tends to sit with it until he has it completely figured out.
And chaotic? No, anyone who knows Charlie knows he has OCD and chaotic doesn’t have much of a place in Charlie’s life. Charlie is actually pretty steadfast. So if I were choosing a character for Charlie myself, I think I’d pick: Owl.
Owl is strong and he’s quiet. He doesn’t take anything from anybody and that is defiantly Charlie. And Charlie is definitely a night owl. He sleeps during the day. He stays up at night. So while I understand exactly why ChatGPT picked Tigger, I think I’m going to give Charlie to Owl. And I have to admit… Tigger and Owl are two very different answers.
What Do You Think? Now this one should be interesting. Is Charlie Tigger or Owl? Was ChatGPT right? Was Glenda right? Or is there another Winnie the Pooh character who fits Charlie even better? You decide!
Suzanne: ChatGPT: said “If Suzanne were a Winnie the Pooh character, who would she be and why?” Tigger because Tigger represents energy, enthusiasm, playfulness, movement, and a personality that can fill a room.
He’s bouncy and he’s rarely still. And he brings an energy with him wherever he goes. But there is an even bigger reason I would have picked Tigger for Suzanne even if ChatGPT hadn’t.
Tigger was Suzanne’s favorite Winnie the Pooh character. ChatGPT says they’ve heard Glenda talk about many times. And when someone has such a strong connection to a character, I think there’s something meaningful about that. Sometimes our favorite characters reflect something we recognize in ourselves. So ChatGPT’s answer is: Tigger
Glenda’s Thoughts: This one is easy. I can see it because Suzanne was energy and yes, she was enthusiastic. She was playful and yes, she bounced around and she was never still.
And she was never quiet. And Tigger wasn’t just some random character we assigned to her. Tigger was Suzanne’s absolute favorite character. It’s even on her gravestone. So I completely understand why ChatGPT picked Tigger.
And honestly, if I had to pick quickly, I probably would have said Tigger, too. But then I started thinking about which Winnie the Pooh character I thought Suzzane would be and my answer was different.
Roo: is who I would have picked for Suzanne because like Roo Suzanne was tiny and petite. Roo is little and he bounces from place to place. And there was something else about Suzanne that Tigger doesn’t quite capture.
Sometimes Suzanne could be shy and sometimes she could be introspective. There was a softer side to her. So I have this picture in my head of Suzanne as little Roo—tiny enough that she could almost hide in your pocket—bouncing from one place to another and then suddenly becoming quiet and thoughtful.
So if ChatGPT gets to choose? Tigger. If I get to choose? Roo. And if I’m being completely honest? Maybe Suzanne was a little bit of both. Because the Tigger in her was real. And so was the tiny, sweet, sometimes shy Roo.
What Do You Think? This one may be the hardest of all. Was Suzanne Tigger? Was she Roo? Or was there another Winnie the Pooh character who reminds you of her? Do you agree with ChatGPT? Do you agree with me? We’d love to hear what you think.

And already, we have some very different answers. Sometimes ChatGPT and I agreed. Sometimes we saw different sides of the same person. And sometimes the reason behind the character was more important than the character itself. But we’re not finished.
Part B is next. We’ll be asking: What if Gerald, Debbie, and Renee were Winnie the Pooh characters? And once again, ChatGPT will make its choices… I’ll tell you what I think… And then you get the final say.
Then we have Part C the Furbabies Bear, Pheobie, Sandy and Gunner. Then we round up this question by asking what Winnie the Pooh Character would our whole family be. Because maybe the most fun part of this whole series isn’t figuring out who we are. Maybe it’s finding out how other people see us.
