Once a week my family and I go grocery shopping and I pick up snacks for everyone. The funny part is there is 4 people in my home and most of the time everyone want’s something different. Charlie likes Chips and once in a blue moon candy.
Gerald usually doesn’t wany anything sweet but would take Chips and Dip everyday of the week. David also isn’t to keen on sweets but once in a while he will get Zebra Cakes, or Stargazer Crunch or Rice Krispie Treats.
As for me I love Chips and once in a while I will pick them up. More than that though I love my sweets especially Chocolate Candy. When it come to me picking out sweets you never now what I might choose and that is why I have a bag of snacks sitting on my desk. Waiting to be eaten. Would you want to join me for a snack or two?
I believe the best snack finds are the little things you almost walk right past. This what happened in Walmart when I walked past a stand of snacks. I stopped and I picked up a Lemon Mini Bundt Cake at Walmart and for a little cake that cost me just a little over a dollar, I have to say, I loved it and my family did too.
The package calls it a Lemon Mini Bundt Cake and says it is naturally flavored, with freshness guaranteed. I can’t tell you much about the ingredients or nutrition information because the print on the package is so tiny that I can’t read it. But I can tell you what I thought about the cake itself!
First of all, this really is a little Bundt cake. It’s the perfect size for one person, although I could easily see cutting it into halves, thirds, or even fourths if I were putting together a dessert tray for a party.
Put the little pieces on a pretty plate, and suddenly that inexpensive little snack looks like something much more special sitting on your dining room table. Especially when there are other varities you could add to the tray making this a wonderful Gift.
The Lemon Cake has a nice white glaze over the top, and the lemon flavor is exactly what I hoped it would be. It’s got that little bit of tartness you expect from lemon, but it isn’t so tart that you don’t want another bite. It’s sweet, lemony, and just a really pleasant little treat.
I ate mine right out of the container which makes it nice for a quick pick me up and you can eat it cold, or you could warm it up if that’s how you like your cake. Personally, I didn’t even wait long enough to think about warming it!
David tried it too, and he liked it. Charlie liked it as well, which is always a good sign when we’re talking about snacks around here. Now, I know to hide my Lemon Bundt Cake or it might come up missing.
I also like the size. This isn’t one of those giant desserts where you feel like you have to finish it once you open it. I could cut this cake in half and actually have a little snack for two different days. It makes a perfect mid-day snack, especially when you just want something sweet without eating a huge dessert.
And there’s something about the flavor that reminded me a little of pineapple upside-down cake. I can’t really explain it other than that it gave me the same kind of feeling. In fact, eating this little cake made me want to go out and buy a Bundt cake pan and make my own!
That’s when I know a store-bought treat has made an impression on me. I can also see these being really cute for a gathering. Buy a variety of the little cakes and treats, cut some of them into smaller pieces, and put everything on a pretty plate. You could have an inexpensive dessert assortment without having to bake an entire cake.
And that got me thinking about other ways these little treats could be used. A few different snacks could make a cute teacher gift, a birthday basket, or a little surprise for a friend or family member.
For this particular Lemon Mini Bundt Cake, my verdict is easy: I would definitely purchase it again. It’s inexpensive, it’s a good size, it has a nice lemon flavor, and it gives me just enough sweetness for a snack.
Sometimes you don’t need a fancy dessert. Sometimes you just need a little lemon cake sitting on your desk in the middle of the afternoon. And sometimes that little treat can turn into a whole new idea.
Plus it isn’t to big to totally destroy my diet and hinder my weight loss to much as long as I don’t eat them every day. Which I must admit I could and would in a heartbeat but I’m not going to.
Greatful, Thankful, and Blessed
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
