I woke up this morning with plans but then they went out the Window when I remembered I had a business meeting I needed to attend. Which kept me from great Scary Chair Hunt but those chairs are still getting made!
I must confess today did not go according to plan. I had this whole idea in my head. Today was going to be the day David and I went to Goodwill because he said yesterday he would take me today. So I could see if they had the two chairs we’re going to turn into our Scary Chairy creations for Denton’s 31 Days of Halloween. Or any decorations we could use.
I had plans. The chairs had plans. Apparently, the Lord had other plans. And once again, I forgot to consult Him first. This morning begin with a Not-So-Happy David because he had to go pay his ticket at the courthouse, and Charlie hadn’t gotten up to take David like he was supposed to. Does that surprise you because it didn’t surprise me.
Then we found out we’re apparently waiting on a letter from Charlie’s job. So… Yahoo. We still don’t have any answers there either. But if your suspended and your waiting on a letter that should tell you that you don’t have a job so you need to get out of bed and start looking for a new job. Again, what do I know I’m only a mom.
Sometimes you just have to laugh because otherwise you’re going to cry. And then I had a business meeting at Melba’s Coffee & Tea House a new place for me to review. That took another chunk of the day.
After my meeting, I wanted to head over to Glenview in Richland Hills to check out a bookstore and another small business which was the Cozy C ate Cafe that I may or may not feature here on Greatful Moments.
Because apparently I can’t go anywhere without turning it into potential blog content. But that is the LORD helping me build this new site which if I want to grow I need to do and getting out of the house for new advetures is the perfect way to do this.
I let David know I want to see the businesses for myself before I decide whether they’re something I want to share with you. So on Saturday my sister and I are supposed to go back to check them out because this is when Grimsey’s Book Nook will open.
So that became part of today’s adventure. And naturally, somewhere along the way… David and I stopped at Golden Corral because sometimes you have to stop for lunch. Plus it gave David and I one on one time we needed.
And after everything else going on today, sitting down and eating sounded pretty darn good. Then we finally made it home. And that’s when reality hit. David needs to pay the rent. The back porch needs to be cleaned.
The downstairs needs to be cleaned. The upstairs needs to be cleaned. And apparently… I need to get that porch cleaned before I’m allowed to build my chairs. Which is what David said. I have a question for you. Who died and left David boss? Even if that porch isn’t cleaned I’m building my chairs.
David thinks this whole Scary Chairy thing is hilarious and I know he may think Bradley and Charlie are going to come up with a hundred ideas and we’re eventually going to forget about them.
But I’m here to tell you: Those chairs are getting made. Come hell or high water. I don’t care if I have to clean that porch one inch at a time. I don’t care if I have to drag my sister to Goodwill. I don’t care if I have to search every thrift store in the area.
We’re making two Scary Chairys. The boys have already decided. I’ve already got a cinnamon-smelling witch’s broom from Aldi sitting here that may or may not become part of one of the chairs. And now I just need the actual chairs.
Saturday I’m going to ask my sister if she wants to go to Goodwill with me. And I’m going to have David send me some money. Because if I find the right chairs… I’m buying them because I refuse to wait on anyone else.
I don’t plan on coming home empty-handed even though I haven’t figured out exactly what they’re going to become yet. That’s the whole point! We don’t have to know. We just need to find the chairs. Then the boys can work their magic.
Sometimes my plans change from day to day and that’s one thing I’m learning over and over again. We can make a plan. We can have our whole day mapped out. We can think we’re going to do one thing… And then life happens.
Courthouse. Business meetings. Mystery letters from a job. Lunch at Golden Corral. Rent. A dirty porch. A dirty downstairs. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you realize: Maybe today wasn’t supposed to be the day we found the chairs. Maybe today was supposed to be the day we took care of everything else.
The Lord had other plans for us today. Which, once again, I forgot to consult Him on. But that’s okay. Tomorrow is another day. And those chairs? They’re still getting made. Come hell or high water. Now… I really need to go clean that porch. Keep me in your PRAYER;s because its hot hot hot outside and sometimes the heat bothers me but those chairs are calling my name and there is no, way Charlie or Bradley are going to help me clean that porch.
Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed. ❤️
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
