Welcome to our series featuring a What If Questions. This morning’s question for the What If is where we share if our Fur Babies Were Characters from Grease? Part C. I don’t know about you but we’ve made it to the part of our Grease adventure Charlie and David have been waiting for.

The fur babies. If you’ve been following along, you’ve already met our human cast in Part A and our friends and family in Part B. Now it’s time for the four members of our family who don’t get a say in who they are.

Although, knowing these four, they would probably disagree with every choice we made. Welcome to Part C: Bear, Phoebe, Sandy, and Gunner. And just like the first two articles, I asked ChatGPT to make its choices based on what it knows about each dog. Then I made my own choices. And, once again, we didn’t always agree. Which is part of the fun.

Make sure you read Parts A and B, because all of these articles are going to be linked together. And after Part C, we’ll bring everybody together for the final family Grease adventure.

Bear- ChatGPT chose Leo for Bear. Because Bear has that tough-guy energy. Don’t mess with my family. He doesn’t have to be the loudest dog in the room to let everyone know he’s watching. He’s protective. He’s there. And you know he’s got your back. That’s the part of Bear that ChatGPT was seeing.

Glenda’s Thoughts: One of the T-Birds– I don’t even necessarily need him to be the leader. In fact, that’s not the point. Bear stays toward the back of the picture. He doesn’t fuss. He doesn’t fight.

But you know he’s there. And if somebody messes with his people? He’s got your back. That’s the T-Bird energy I see in Bear. He’s not always the one standing in the middle of the action. He’s the one standing behind you.

Did ChatGPT get Bear right or did I? Or is there another character that would fit Bear better?

Phoebe– ChatGPT’s Choice: Sandy And this one made me laugh because I had already been thinking about Sandy for her too. Phoebe is sweet. Gentle. Affectionate. Which Sandy had at first.

She has that innocent quality that makes you want to look after her. She’s not looking for a fight. She’s just trying to find her place and enjoy the people around her. And she absolutely has her own personality underneath all that sweetness. So yes, if you were to ask me I can see Phoebe as Sandy.

My Choice: Sandy or Frenchy– I could also see Phoebe as Frenchy. Frenchy is quieter and a little more timid. She’s different. She’s trying to find her place. She’s trying to make friends. And she’s memorable without having to be the loudest person in the crowd.

I could even see Phoebe having a little Beauty School Dropout moment. So Phoebe may have given us our first real tie. Sandy or Frenchy. I’m still thinking about it.

Who do you think Pheobie is and why?

Sandy: ChatGPT picked Frenchy for Sandy. ChatGPT’s reasoning is she is a little goofy. A little unpredictable. Completely lovable. Quirky. Memorable. And somehow always getting herself into something. And honestly, I can see that.

My Choice: The Loudest Person in the Band

If I were choosing a character for Sandy, I would probably pick the person playing the loudest instrument in the band. But Sandy is not the Frenchy I see. Because this dog has a voice.

She doesn’t sing. She doesn’t need to. She announces herself. And she does not know how to stay out of trouble. She’s always moving. Always doing something. Always finding a way to become part of whatever is happening.

And I could even see her as the football player—the one who is constantly running around and never seems to stop. That is Sandy. Quiet? No. Predictable? Absolutely not. Lovable? Without question.

Who do you think Sandy is?

Gunner ChatGPT’s Choice: ChatGPT initially chose Sonny because it saw persistence and somebody who always seemed to have something to say. But… If you where to ask me that isn’t Gunner.

My Choice: Putzie

Gunner is actually much quieter. He doesn’t want to be involved. He wants to be left alone. He’s there. He knows what’s going on. But he doesn’t necessarily want anybody bothering him.

And the character I immediately started thinking about was that quiet, skinny T-Bird who seems to stay in the background until he finally speaks up. Putzie. That’s Gunner. He’s not the guy barging into the room. He’s the guy sitting there thinking: “Please leave me alone.” And then, when he wants something? Well… He’ll let you know. Especially if what he wants is to be petted.

Did we get Gunner right?

Part C: Our Fur Baby Cast and this is where our casting stands: Bear– ChatGPT: Leo- My choice: one of the T-Birds Phoebe: ChatGPT: Sandy- My choice: Sandy or Frenchy Sandy

And now we have one final question. What happens when we stop looking at everyone individually and put the whole family into Grease? Who becomes the leader? Who becomes the best friend? Who is running the show? Who is causing trouble? Who is dancing? And who is standing in the back wondering why they got dragged to the carnival in the first place? That’s coming in our final family article.
