I’m excited to bring you another question in my series where I ask ChatGPT a question. This morning I wanted to ask ChatGPT What If My Fur Babies Were Game Show Hosts which is Part C of Our “What If I Was…?” Series
I hope you’ve been having fun seeing the questions I’ve been asking ChatGPT which has been some pretty unusual questions about our family. This time, we decided to find out: What if my fur babies were game-show hosts?
Now, before we get started, let me explain why I use ChatGPT for this series. I’m not asking ChatGPT these questions because I expect it to know my family the way I do. It doesn’t live in my house.
It hasn’t watched Bear Bear hide from people, seen Phoebe get nervous, watched Sandy greet everybody with kisses, or gotten to know Gunnar during his time with us. What ChatGPT does have is everything I’ve shared with it.
When working with ChatGPT on articles and stories about my family. I tell it about their personalities, the things they like, the things they don’t like, and the funny little things they do. Then I ask it to take all of that information and make a choice.
Sometimes ChatGPT chooses exactly what I would have chosen. Sometimes it doesn’t. And that’s okay. There is no right or wrong answer. That’s actually the whole point of this series.
ChatGPT gets to tell me how it sees my family, and then I get to tell you how I see them. So let’s find out what happened when I asked ChatGPT to turn my four fur babies into game-show hosts.
Bear Bear- ChatGPT chose Bob Barker. Bear Bear is protective. He’s serious when he thinks something needs to be taken care of, and he has a personality that makes you believe he thinks he is in charge of things.
Bob Barker had that same calm authority as the host of The Price Is Right. He didn’t have to be loud to command attention. He could stand there, look at what was happening, and keep the show moving.
And, of course, there is one other reason Bob Barker makes sense for Bear Bear. Animals. Bob Barker was a well-known animal advocate and famously used his Price Is Right sign-off to encourage people to have their pets spayed or neutered.
He also supported shelter-pet adoption and animal welfare. So I can imagine Bear Bear getting his own little game-show wand and running around tapping everybody on the knee. “Make sure you spay and neuter your dogs!”
Tap. “Make sure you spay and neuter your dogs!” Tap. “Adopt a shelter dog!” And by the third contestant, everybody would know exactly what Bear Bear’s public-service message was going to be.
My Thoughts– I can absolutely see Bear Bear as Bob Barker. But if I were choosing a game-show host for Bear Bear, I would pick Monty Hall, the host of Let’s Make a Deal. Bear Bear is crazy and protective, but he’s also the kind of dog who likes to hide. He doesn’t necessarily want everybody’s attention on him all the time.
And that makes me think of Let’s Make a Deal. I can picture Bear Bear getting himself a crazy costume, hiding in the middle of the crowd, and nobody knowing who he was or where he was.
He could be standing right there and nobody would even realize the game-show host was the dog hiding in the costume. That’s Bear Bear. So ChatGPT sees Bob Barker. I see Monty Hall. And honestly, I can see why ChatGPT picked Bob.
What do you think? Would Bear Bear make a better Bob Barker or Monty Hall? Or is there another game-show host you think fits him?
Phoebe- ChatGPT saw Phoebe as someone who might have one of the biggest personalities in the bunch. The reasoning was that Steve Harvey can be dramatic, funny, expressive, and completely entertained by whatever is happening around him.
ChatGPT imagined Phoebe watching the contestants, reacting to their answers, making herself part of every single break, and becoming part of the entertainment. She wouldn’t just host the game. She’d be the entertainment. And that sounds pretty funny. Except… That’s not really Phoebe.
My Thoughts: Phoebe is quiet. She’s very skittish because she was a shelter dog. I’ve always felt that someone may have abused her before I got her, because she has that nervousness about her.
Phoebe doesn’t want a lot of attention drawn to her. So if I were choosing a game-show host for Phoebe, I would pick someone much quieter. I would choose Regis Philbin from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
That show had a much calmer feeling. The host asked the question, gave the contestant time to think, and moved the game along. There wasn’t a whole lot of unnecessary noise or drama.
That feels much more like Phoebe. She could sit quietly behind the podium, ask the question, wait for the answer, and move on. No big production. No screaming. No spotlight constantly on her. Just Phoebe doing her job.
So ChatGPT sees Steve Harvey. I see Regis Philbin. And this is a perfect example of why I love doing these questions. ChatGPT saw a personality in Phoebe that I don’t necessarily see, but I can still understand how it got there based on what I’ve told it.
What do you think? Does Phoebe have a little Steve Harvey in her, or do you see her as more of a quiet Regis Philbin type?
Sandy– ChatGPT chose Pat Sajak, the longtime host of Wheel of Fortune. And this one actually made sense to me. Sandy has that sweet, familiar, “I’m just happy to be here” quality.
She doesn’t have to take over the room. She can greet everybody, keep things moving, smile at the contestants, and be perfectly happy while everyone else does the hard work. That’s Sandy.
Although, knowing Sandy, she’d probably eventually wander away from the podium to see what everybody else was doing. Then she would try and take you with her. Because that’s Sandy, too.
My Thoughts– I can see Pat Sajak for Sandy. But if I were choosing a game-show host for Sandy, I’d pick Richard Dawson, the longtime host of Family Feud. And the reason is simple.
Kisses. Richard Dawson was famous for greeting contestants with kisses. Sandy loves giving kisses and hugs. So I can picture Sandy greeting every contestant, giving everybody a kiss, giving everybody a hug, and making sure nobody leaves without some Sandy love.
Sandy also has balanced energy. She can be sweet and calm, but she can also be loud, excited, happy, and laughing. That’s the part that makes Richard Dawson work for me. So ChatGPT sees Pat Sajak. I see Richard Dawson. And I think both choices show a different side of Sandy.
What do you think? Would Sandy be better at the Wheel of Fortune wheel or greeting everybody on Family Feud?
Gunnar– ChatGPT chose Ryan Seacrest which required ChatGPT to think a little outside the box. Ryan Seacrest isn’t the obvious choice if we’re trying to match Gunnar to one particular traditional game show.
But that’s not what ChatGPT was doing with this choice. It was matching Gunnar’s personality to Ryan Seacrest’s hosting style. Ryan has an energetic, polished, adaptable presence. He’s someone who can step into different television jobs and different situations and figure things out.
And that is what made ChatGPT think of Gunnar. Gunnar is still learning his place with us. He came into our home, made himself comfortable, got involved, and before we knew it, he became part of our family.
And just like Ryan Seacrest can move from one television role to another, Gunnar is getting ready to move from our home back to his forever home. So even though Ryan Seacrest isn’t my choice because of one specific game show, his hosting personality is what made ChatGPT choose him for Gunnar. That’s why I had to think outside the box.
My Thoughts– And I agree with the reasoning. Gunnar is still learning his place with us. He came in, made himself comfortable, got involved, and before we knew it, he was part of the family. And now he’s getting ready to go home to his forever family.
So I can see why ChatGPT picked Ryan Seacrest. But if I were choosing a game-show host for Gunnar, I would choose Dick Clark. Specifically, the Dick Clark of The $1,000 Pyramid and the later Pyramid versions.
Dick Clark hosted the original The $10,000 Pyramid and went on to host several versions of the franchise, including The $100,000 Pyramid. He was known for a calm, controlled hosting style rather than being overly flashy.
And that’s Gunnar. Gunnar likes to be left alone more often than not. He’s quiet. He’s laid-back. He doesn’t need a whole lot of action happening around him. I can picture him in that big Pyramid chair area, standing there, looking over the railing at the contestants while they try to figure out the answers.
He doesn’t have to run around. He doesn’t have to make a lot of noise. He just gets to stand there and watch. That’s Gunnar. So ChatGPT sees Ryan Seacrest and I see Dick Clark.
And this is probably one of the best examples in the whole series of how ChatGPT and I can look at the same family member and come up with completely different answers.

And there we have it. Four fur babies. Eight possible game-show hosts. And absolutely no wrong answers. Bear Bear ChatGPT: Bob Barker Me: Monty Hall, Phoebe ChatGPT: Steve Harvey Me: Regis Philbin.
Then there was Sandy ChatGPT: Pat Sajak Me: Richard Dawson and last but not least is my Gunnar ChatGPT: Ryan Seacrest Me: Dick Clark That’s what I love about asking ChatGPT these questions.
It doesn’t have to agree with me and I don’t have to agree with it. Sometimes ChatGPT sees something I don’t. Sometimes I know the person—or the dog—well enough to say, “Nope, that’s not my Bear Bear!”
And sometimes, I can look at its answer and say, “You know what? I can actually see that.” The fun isn’t in finding the perfect answer. The fun is in seeing how our family looks through somebody else’s eyes—and then telling our own stories about why we see them differently.
And if you know these four fur babies, I’d love to know: Who would you choose as their game-show hosts? Because I’m pretty sure Bear Bear, Phoebe, Sandy, and Gunnar would all have something to say about your choices, too.
