My family would like to welcome you back to our What If I Was…? series! This morning Charlie picked out what he wanted to ask ChatGPT which was what if we were a animal what would we be.
This is the series where we use ChatGPT to help us answer some fun questions about ourselves. We’ve asked what we would be if we were different things, and today we decided to ask a slightly different question:
What type of animal would my family be? I gave ChatGPT the names of my family members and pets and asked it to choose an animal for each and every one of us. Now, remember, some of these may be spot on, while others may have us scratching our heads and saying, “Where did THAT come from?” And that’s the whole fun of this series! So let’s see what ChatGPT came up with.
David — A Bear because it described him as strong, dependable, protective, loyal, and someone who takes care of his family. Honestly, I can see it. If you know David do you this this fits him?
David has always been someone who works hard and looks out for the people he loves. And there’s something about the bear that fits that quiet strength. David is our bear and having the name Caveman a Bear fits him to a T.
Charlie — A Fox because he is lever, independent, creative, curious, and someone who likes figuring things out in his own way. Man, oh man this is Charlie in more ways than one. Considering Charlie’s love of gaming, technology, photography, streaming, and creating things, I can definitely see where ChatGPT was coming from. Can’t you?
Me — A Butterfly and honestly, I really like this choice because a butterfly represents change, growth, transformation, and becoming something new. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about blooming, growing, starting over, and finding beauty in the middle of everyday life.
So maybe ChatGPT knows me better than I thought! Not only that if you’ve been here a while you know Suzzane is a Butterfly flying free and being one myself means I would be closer to her and that would be amazing.
For Gerald, ChatGPT chose an owl which is cool because my mom collected Owls when she we were children and Gearld was my mom’s favorite child so picking a Owl for him makes sense.
The owl represents someone who watches, observes, thinks, and notices things happening around them. I’m not sure Gerald will agree with this one, but I can see why ChatGPT made the choice.
And that’s what makes this series fun. Sometimes the answer makes perfect sense and as I said before I believe this answer is spot on. Don’t you? Sometimes we’re left saying, “Really?” But this time I’m saying I see that.
Debbie was given a deer. Gentle, observant, alert, and graceful. This is an interesting choice, and one that makes me wonder whether Debbie would agree with ChatGPT’s reasoning. I guess we’ll have to ask her!
Renee got a squirrel and this one made me laugh because Squirrel’s are David’s favorite animal and they run free in our yard. Squirrels are busy, curious, energetic, always gathering something, and constantly moving from one thing to another.
I have a feeling Renee may either love this answer or tell me ChatGPT has absolutely no idea what it’s talking about. Either way, it’s entertaining and I believe once again its spot on. What do you think?
For Suzanne, ChatGPT chose a hummingbird and that makes sense because my family loves all Birds. A Hummingbird is a small bird that brings beauty and movement wherever it goes.
Suzanne’s life was far too short, but she remains an important part of our family and our memories. I thought the hummingbird was a particularly beautiful choice for her. Sometimes a life doesn’t have to be long to leave a lasting impression. Does it?
Gunner was given a golden retriever. Loyal, loving, friendly, and happiest when he’s with his people. That sounds like a pretty good description of a family dog. I think Gunner can keep this one and I can’t wait to see what his mom says about the choice ChatGPT made for him.
Now Sandy. ChatGPT didn’t choose another dog. It chose a squirrel monkey. And honestly? I’m laughing because I can see it and a Monkey was one of Suzzane’s favorite animals and mine to so this fits her to a T as well.
Sandy is curious, energetic, stubborn on man is she ever stubborn, vocal more times than not and she puts the other dogs in there place, and absolutely convinced that whatever is happening around the house is her business. She doesn’t just want to know what’s happening. She wants to be involved. That sounds like a squirrel monkey to me.
ChatGPT chose a cat for Phoebe. And this one is almost too obvious. Independent, comfortable doing things her own way, affectionate when she wants to be, and perfectly capable of deciding when she does NOT want attention.
Yep. Phoebe is a cat but that isn’t going to make Charlie happy because he doesn’t like Cats and neither does David but more times than not they like him. Anyone who knows me knows I want a kitten and Pheobie is my dog so to me this makes sense. What do you think?
And then we have Bear Bear. Remember, Bear Bear is already a little dog. But the question wasn’t, “What kind of dog is Bear Bear?” It was, “If Bear Bear could be any animal, what would he be?”
ChatGPT chose a koala because a kola is a cuddly, gentle animal that represents comfort and staying close. I think that’s actually a pretty sweet choice for our little Bear Bear. Don’t you agree?
Now that we’ve turned everyone into an animal, I’m wondering what would happen if we actually put all of us together. A bear. A fox. A butterfly. An owl. A deer. A squirrel. A hummingbird. A golden retriever. A squirrel monkey. A cat. And a koala.
We wouldn’t exactly have a normal farm! We’d probably have a little bit of everything. David the bear would be keeping everybody safe. Charlie the fox would be off exploring and figuring out what he could get into.
Gerald the owl would be sitting somewhere watching everything happening around him. Debbie the deer would be wandering peacefully through the yard. Renee the squirrel would be busy collecting things and hiding them somewhere we’d probably never find.
Suzanne the hummingbird would be flying from flower to flower, bringing a little beauty into the middle of everything. Gunner the golden retriever would probably be happy just being wherever everybody else was.
Sandy the squirrel monkey? Well, let’s be honest. Sandy would be getting into something she wasn’t supposed to be doing. Phoebe the cat would be sitting somewhere watching all of us like she owned the entire place.
Bear Bear the koala would probably be looking for the most comfortable spot available so he could curl up and relax. And me? I’d be the butterfly flying around trying to keep up with everybody. Yep. That sounds about right.
Maybe that’s what makes a family so much fun. We don’t have to be the same animal. We don’t have to have the same personalities. We don’t even have to understand why somebody else does the things they do.
We just have to find a way to live together in our own little crazy ecosystem. And if our family ever opens a farm… You can bet it won’t be a normal one! Which is why you should come and visit our farm.
I know not everyone likes ChatGPT. Some people have concerns about it. Some people don’t feel comfortable using it. And some people simply don’t want to use it at all. That’s okay. I’m not suggesting that you should use ChatGPT. I’m simply sharing my own experience.
I’ve been using it, and it has helped me in more ways than I know. It has helped me think through ideas, organize my thoughts, look at things from different angles, and come up with fun ideas like this one.
I’m not asking ChatGPT to decide who my family is. I’m asking it to play along with us. Sometimes it gets an answer that feels spot on. Sometimes it gives us an answer that makes us scratch our heads. And sometimes it gives us something that makes us laugh.
But that’s the fun of this series. So here’s today’s question: If you asked ChatGPT what animal you would be, what do you think it would choose? And would you agree? Because sometimes the most interesting part isn’t the answer. It’s the reason behind it. Until next time, we’ll keep asking… What If I Was…?
