Welcome to August at Greatful Moments: Taking Time to Be Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed

As we move into November and things are changing her in my home faster than I can keep up with. I wanted to take the time to thank the LORD for months that have’ past including August. Sometimes life flies by so quickly that we don’t even take the time to stop and be grateful for all the things the Lord has brought into our lives. And honestly, that’s how I feel I treated August this year. Now, I have a question for you. Is this how you felt as well?

Before you ask why I would bring August up I wanted you to know I don’t want to go backward in time, and I’m certainly not trying to turn back the calendar. But I did want to take a few moments to look back at August and thank the Lord for the blessings He brought our way, including one of my favorite things about this time of year: FALL!

Now, I have to ask: Is one of your favorite things about August the return of all things pumpkin? Everywhere you look, pumpkins are popping up! Pumpkin spice, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin desserts, and pumpkin bread. You name it, and somebody has probably found a way to add pumpkin to it.

Now, I’m not a huge pumpkin fan, and neither is Charlie. My husband, on the other hand, enjoys pumpkin, and my sister loves the pumpkin bread my mother-in-law makes. They’ve both missed out on that little tradition this year because she hasn’t made any yet. Maybe she’ll surprise us later in the season. God only knows!

But pumpkin isn’t the only thing I want to be thankful for. I love watching the seasons change, seeing the beautiful colors in the leaves, and enjoying those cooler days when the weather finally gives us a little relief. There is something special about this time of year that reminds me to slow down and appreciate the little things.

August also means children are preparing to return to school or have already walked through those school doors. I want to take a moment to pray for the children, their parents, and the teachers who are guiding them throughout the school year. Because even though we’re nearing the end of October, it’s never too late to stop and pray.

We can pray for the days behind us, the moments we’re living right now, and the days the Lord has yet to bring our way. So today, I want to invite you to sit a little while with me and share what you’re grateful, thankful, and blessed for when you think about August.

How did August treat you? Was it everything you hoped it would be? Did it bring unexpected blessings? Did you make memories with family and friends? Or was it one of those months when you wanted to run screaming and ask the Lord what in the world was going on?

Because, if I’m being honest, August was a little bit of both for our family! But even in the middle of the unexpected, there are always things we can find to be thankful for. Sometimes we just have to slow down long enough to see them. So, from my front porch to yours, what is one thing you’re grateful, thankful, and blessed for about August? For me it was the changing of the LEAVES and Charlie said the same for him while David said Pumpkin Bread. How would I not know that.

I’d love for you to share your August memories with me. Let’s take a few moments to count our blessings and thank the Lord for bringing us through another month. Because life doesn’t always go according to our plans, but there is always a reason to pause, give thanks, and remember the blessings along the way.
