Wednesday is the one day of the week David is off and sometimes if were lucky he might be off on Thursday as well. David and I get up on Wednesday morning early and go do our shopping for the week and have breakfast as it gives us time to reconnect.
For David and I some of the most interesting finds during a busy week don’t always come from planned shopping trips — they come from stopping in at everyday stores like convenience shops, hardware stores, or craft aisles while running errands.
Last week included several different retail stops that each added something unique to the mix. At QuickTrip (QT), I noticed new tea machines that reflect how convenience stores continue to expand their drink options beyond standard fountain drinks and coffee.
These machines are becoming a bigger part of the in-store experience, especially for people looking for quick, customizable drink options during busy days. Even though the machines are more modern and updated neither the clerks or I are to excited about this change.
At 7-Eleven, similar updates in beverage options were also noticeable, along with the added value of their rewards program and seasonal promotions like the Gold Pass. These types of programs are becoming more common and are designed to encourage repeat visits while offering small savings or perks for regular customers.
Even though Charlie has finally coming around to using the QT app because we can get discounted drinks I can’t get Charlie and David to use the 7-11 app which is crazy because David is there everyday.
Saving money should be second nature to David but it isn’t. The sad part is my sister has the app and all he has to do is put in here phone number and he would earn points which can turn into free items. What do I know.
In addition to convenience stores, we also came across baking and home product sections at Walmart, including Wilton baking supplies. I’m sure you know Wilton is known for its cake decorating tools, molds, and baking accessories, and these types of items are often used for seasonal baking projects, celebrations, or home baking experiments.
Hardware stores like Ace Hardware also contributed to the mix, especially with practical household items and tools that often get overlooked until they are needed. Even something as simple as duct tape or small repair items can become part of a larger household project or quick fix.
Together, these stops show how everyday errands often overlap. Grocery runs, convenience stops, and home supply shopping all blend into one ongoing routine of managing home life, meals, and small projects throughout the week.
