The prompt for today’s Ultimate Blog Challenge Day 6 June 2018. We were asked to make it another teaching moment. We was asked to Share with our visitors a valuable lesson we’ve learned that helped us overcome a challenge we have faced.  This morning I will be sharing a lesson, we were asked to tell about our problem and what the outcomes were.

People love a good story!

For me, all I could think of to share with you is a parenting story and how we are Homeschooling Charlie and facing Bullying in the community. Charlie went out to the mailbox the other day to get the mail when a couple of kids threw him to the ground and jumped on him and bruised his ribs.

Bullying led to a teaching moment for our family as I let the neighbors know what happened so they could watch there children and they let me know their children know how to fight and to protect themselves. Which Charlie does as well but we don’t condone fighting as it isn’t what the Lord would want so Charlie didn’t fight back.

Then I went to talk the children’s parents that jumped on Charlie, and all the dad did be slap the kid in the mouth and say next time to call the POLICE.

After seeing the dads response, I knew why the child was the way he was. I came back inside and let Charlie know the next time I would call the Police as I wasn’t going to have other kids hurt him. Charlie begged me not to and said it isn’t the child’s fault he did it. Which I didn’t agree with and had to explain to Charlie why I would call the police, and I am glad I did as the next day he shot Charlie with a BB Gun.

I called the police, and they came out and let me know since they didn’t see it happen they couldn’t do anything to the children I would need to speak to the parents. Which has upset Charlie and made him upset with our Police Department and he is losing all respect for them which I don’t blame him.

We are having to regroup and figure out how to get Charlie to change his feelings and to trust Police Officers as all of them are not bad and will help you out. Although if I was, I am not happy with them either as I think something should have been done to the children before they hurt someone badly.

I am just trying to teach Charlie God is watching over him and he will be OKAY, and the kids will not hurt him again as I will not let him outside by himself which makes him feel like he is in jail. I PRAY that the rules in our town are changed to stop BULLYING, and our family can find a way to help that child before he ends up either killing himself or ends up in jail.

As parents, I never dreamed something like this would happen to my family.
