‘Til Midnight at the Nasher: Free Admission, Live Music, and Practical Magic in Dallas

Here at Greatful Moments, I enjoy finding local experiences that give families and friends another reason to get out and explore the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Living in North Texas means we have access to museums, special events, live music, and plenty of opportunities to discover something different without always having to plan a big trip.

When I received information about the next ‘Til Midnight at the Nasher event, the combination of free admission, live music, and a screening of Practical Magic caught my attention. With Halloween approaching, the evening offers a seasonal way to enjoy art, music, and a little movie magic in downtown Dallas.

The Nasher Sculpture Center will host the final ‘Til Midnight event of the 2026 season on Friday, October 16. The evening is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. until midnight, with live performances, a classic witch-themed film, specialty food and drinks available for purchase, and additional activities.

The sad part is knowing I’ve planned to attend events here multiple times with my family even when I was #Homeschooling Charlie and I haven’t make it as of yet. Now I would like to attend this new event but I have to check with David because he works the next day and see if he would want to go or if Charlie and his friends would want to go with me. Unless you would like to.

Live Music in Downtown Dallas

The evening begins with live music featuring two performers. At 7 p.m., Caftan takes the stage. The Dallas-area psychedelic folk-rock band grew from a collaboration between songwriters Cory Kosel and Jake Nice. The group is preparing to release its forthcoming album, Palimpsest, recorded at Niles City Sound in Fort Worth.

At 8 p.m., Danny Joseph brings his blues-rock sound to the event. Known as an alum of The Voice, Joseph is scheduled to perform his soulful vocals and energetic style for the evening’s audience. Whether you enjoy discovering local musicians or simply want to spend an evening listening to live music, the lineup offers two different sounds to enjoy.

You will find this evening inside our Interactive Halloween Gift Guide because they are showing A Halloween Favorite: At 9:15 p.m., and visitors can settle in for a screening of Practical Magic (1998), rated PG-13. Have you see this movie because I don’t think I have and I’m not sure if David or Charlie have watched it either.

The film follows two witch sisters who grow up with their eccentric aunts in a small town. As they face prejudice and a family curse that threatens their chances of finding lasting love, the sisters must confront the unusual circumstances surrounding their lives.

For those who enjoy seasonal movies, witchy stories, and a little Halloween atmosphere, this screening is a fitting addition to an autumn evening. Parents should consider the film’s PG-13 rating when deciding whether it is appropriate for younger family members.

The event will also feature an autumn-inspired menu from Wolfgang Puck Catering. Food and beverages are not included simply because admission is free, so visitors should plan their budgets accordingly.

Menu selections announced for the event include: Potion Pumpkin Soup with brown butter, sage, pepitas, and crème fraîche for $13.50; Hearth Witch’s Flambée, a tart featuring bacon, mushrooms, sweet onion, wild thyme, and ricotta, for $18.50; Harvest Moon Chicken with tarragon butter, chicory salad, and duck-fat slow-roasted potatoes for $24. For dessert, guests can order spiced apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce for $13.50.

Bar service and grab-and-go snacks will also be available for purchase. For my family it would be nice to have dinner here but I didn’t see anything my family would eat unless its the grab and go snacks and looking at the prices from above we might not be able to afford all three of us something to eat. But that shouldn’t stop you from going and having dinner.

Visitors can explore additional offerings during the evening. BeKinder Coffee will serve fair-trade, organic Vietnamese coffee and baked goods. Tarot readings will be offered in English and Spanish by Oscar Almaraz for guests interested in exploring tarot and astrology. CultureMap has also partnered with Camp Crafty to offer free DIY sage-wand activities for October’s event. This hands-on activity adds another seasonal touch to the evening.

The event announcement states that ‘Til Midnight takes place rain or shine. If the weather is poor, concerts will move indoors. Blankets are permitted, but outside food, beverages, and furniture are not allowed. Visitors planning to attend should review the organizer’s current event information before leaving home, particularly for any updates to the schedule, entry arrangements, or event policies. Because the event takes place in downtown Dallas, visitors should also plan ahead for parking and transportation.

I like seeing local events that bring different experiences together in one place. Between the music, the movie, the art setting, and the seasonal activities, ‘Til Midnight at the Nasher offers several ways to enjoy a fall evening in Dallas and it could be used as a #Homeschooling Field Trip for families studying Fall or Movies.

Free admission is also worth noting for anyone trying to enjoy local experiences while keeping an eye on the budget. Of course, dinner, snacks, and drinks can add to the cost, so planning ahead can help visitors decide which parts of the evening matter most to them.

I also appreciate having local events to share with our readers who are looking for something different to do around North Texas. Not every outing has to be a full weekend trip. Sometimes, a special evening close to home can be a welcome change of pace. If you enjoy live music, seasonal movies, and exploring Dallas, this may be an event to consider for Friday, October 16.

Would you attend ‘Til Midnight at the Nasher for the live music, the screening of Practical Magic, or the seasonal activities?
