When I think about giving gifts, I often think about birthdays, holidays, or special occasions. But I wanted to remind you some of the best gifts are the ones given simply because we care. A small gesture. A thoughtful surprise. Something that reminds someone they are loved and appreciated which is something I could use hearing. How about you?
Summer gives us so many opportunities to celebrate the people around us. Whether it is a family gathering, a backyard visit, a thank-you gift, or simply a way to brighten someone’s day, a meaningful gift does not have to be expensive. The best gifts are often the ones that create memories. Gifts that Encourage time together or some gifts which are special because they bring people together.
Including a backyard game or a family movie night basket. How about a picnic blanket and snacks? David and I always enjoyed a puzzle for an afternoon together. A simple outdoor activity liking painting rocks can be a lot of fun and bring people together as they paint the rocks and hide them for others to find.
These gifts are not just things they’re invitations to spend time together. Including gifts for Grandparents and our friends and family members. My parents ie Charlie’s Grandparents often appreciated gifts that reminded them of family. Including a framed family photo or a handwritten letter. A memory book with a favorite recipe printed and placed inside the book. A plant or garden item they can enjoy. The most meaningful gifts often include a personal touch.
Gifts for Hosts and Hostesses: Summer often means cookouts, gatherings, and visits with friends. A thoughtful host gift can be simple and include a candle in a outdoor scent. A kitchen towel that can be used inside or outside. A serving dish with the ingredients to make a homemade treat for there family. A small plant.
The purpose is not the price the purpose is showing appreciation. I thought I would also share Gifts for Teachers, Mentors, and People Who Make a Difference: Teachers and mentors spend so much time encouraging others. A small thank-you gift can mean a lot. Here is some ideas you might purchase: A gift card to a local resturant.
A notebook with there school name on it or there name or favorite saying. A coffee cup which I found several teachers cups at Dollar Tree. A plant for their desk. A handwritten note sharing appreciation not only from you but the student as well. Sometimes the words matter more than the gift especially on a hard or trying day.
I also thought you might want to check out Budget-Friendly Gift Ideas which you do not have to spend a lot to make someone feel special. Some of my favorite gift ideas can be found at places like Dollar Tree, discount stores, or by creating something from home and here is some ideas: A snack basket or a movie night basket. Or you could combine these two baskets into one.
A self-care basket or a summer reading basket which can be combined into one basket as well. A homemade recipe collection. Or a container filled with small treats. It is amazing what a little creativity can create. Remember handmade gifts always make the best gifts and no, they do not have to be perfect.
For me as I’ve been cleaning and decluttering some of the most important gifts for me are ones that create memories, not clutter. One thing my family has learned is that the best gifts are not always things that sit on a shelf. The best gifts are experiences. A day together taking turns on choosing what to do and no, you do not have to spend money on the things you do. A conversation and a shared meal at home. A family activity which will allow you to create a new memory because those are the gifts people remember.
Giving from the heart is one of the most kindest caring things we can do and at Greatful Moments, we believe the little things matter. A gift does not have to be perfect. It does not have to be expensive. It just has to show someone: “I thought of you.” “I appreciate you.” “You matter.” Because sometimes the smallest gifts become the biggest reminders of love. And those are the moments we hold onto.
