This morning, after looking at the gardening stickers and checking out Cynthia Hart’s Victorian Gardens Deluxe, the sticker book with more than 825 stickers that I shared with you yesterday, I picked up The Eclectic World of Julia Rothman Sticker Book. And Julia Rothman took me right back.
Not just to my teenage years, but even further back to when I was younger and living at home with my parents, sitting in my bedroom surrounded by the things I loved. I could picture having a sleepover and using some of these stickers, and they reminded me of the Lisa Frank stickers I loved back in the day.
But let me tell you something. These stickers are no Lisa Frank stickers. And I don’t mean that in a bad way! These are completely different, and I think that’s part of what makes this book so much fun. And they aren’t just for kids, either. My sister and my best friend Debbie would like them a lot.
The Eclectic World of Julia Rothman Sticker Book contains more than 1,000 stickers from beloved illustrator and author Julia Rothman. The book takes you on a wild romp through a world of everyday objects, animals, food, hobbies, holidays, and so much more.
You’ll find stickers for just about every occasion, including alphabet stickers for monograms and custom messages, spooky stickers for Halloween, holiday stickers for decorating gifts, and pages filled with things for cat lovers, dog lovers, foodies, bookworms, artists, and everyone in between.
There are picnic baskets and Polaroid cameras I wish I still have. Broken umbrellas and friendship bracelets. Bicycles and ballerinas reminding me of Suzzane. And that’s just the beginning. The question isn’t really “What can I do with these stickers?” It’s “What story am I going to tell with them?”
Like Charlie and Suzzane I’ve always loved stickers. When I was growing up, my notebooks were covered with them. And when I say covered, I mean you could eventually get to the point where you couldn’t see the cover to the notebook underneath them! The Author was like me but she had her desk covered in stickers while her sister handled stickers completely differently.
She kept hers on the sheets, intact, in an album where she could admire them but never actually use them. That was me with some of my Lisa Frank stickers, too. Sometimes a sticker is so pretty that you almost don’t want to use it. But I still love putting stickers on things.
I’ll decorate presents and envelopes with them. I’ve put them on my phone, my laptop, and my sketchbook covers. So sitting down with this book and seeing page after page of stickers that I could actually use made me very happy. More than one of the stickers triggered a memory I can’t wait to share with my friends and family.
The first pages are filled with baking items. There is a mixer. And I have to tell you, that mixer immediately made me think about the mixer I keep hoping Santa will bring me one day. So, Santa, as you’re loading up that sleigh, you might want to take another look at my Christmas list!
Then I started flipping. There is a typewriter, and that immediately reminded me of my childhood because my dad owned a typewriter company when I was growing up. There is a cat that reminded me of the cat I had as a child. And then I found the red sneakers. Charlie and I still wear red sneakers!
Can you imagine? Something as simple as a sticker can bring back a whole memory. That’s what kept happening as I went through this book. One of the things I love about this sticker book is that you can use the stickers to make your own little stories. Maybe you’re having a bad day and want to make something fun. Maybe you’re baking a cake for a neighbor. You don’t even had to wait for a special occasion to use them.
You could decorate the box with stickers of a stand mixer, an oven, mixing bowls, cracked eggs, and then finish it with a “Made With Love” sticker and give a box of treats to your neighbor. Or maybe you’re inviting a friend over for a movie night. There are popcorn boxes and takeout containers that would be perfect for an invitation.
And then there is a remote control sticker. Charlie would probably want that one. Actually, I know Charlie would want that one. There is even a dachshund—a little wiener dog—and I already know Charlie and David are going to want that sticker. They’re not taking mine.
Inside this sticker book there is something for everyone. And I really mean everyone. These stickers aren’t only for women or children. I can see men finding stickers they would enjoy, too. There are tools. There are robots. There are bicycles. There are food stickers.
There are animals. There are objects from everyday life. There are things that could be used for crafts, gifts, cards, scrapbooks, journals, invitations, school projects, or simply decorating something because you feel like it. Charlie would probably go straight for the robots.
I would go for the baking supplies, flowers, books, and all the little vintage-inspired things that remind me of growing up. And David? Well, there are definitely stickers in here I can see him picking out, too. And then I found Halloween inspired Stickers and they are going into our Halloween Interactive Gift Guide, since I found spooky stickers.
You could use them for Halloween cards. Halloween treat bags. A spooky basket. Gift tags. Invitations. Or just to decorate something for Halloween. But the amazing thing is that you don’t stop at Halloween. Keep flipping. Christmas is in here, too! Then we get to the Christmas tree.
I’m telling you, this book has a little bit of everything—and some things we didn’t even know we needed! There are holiday stickers that would be perfect for decorating Christmas presents, gift tags, cards, envelopes, journals, and more. And because I’m already working on our Interactive Christmas Gift Guide, this book fits right in.
You could even use the stickers to make your own Christmas gift tags or decorate a plain package and turn it into something special. Then you keep flipping. And suddenly there is a snow day. Then a chandelier. And then we get to New Year’s. That’s when I realized this isn’t just a Halloween or Christmas sticker book.
There are stickers that I can use in my New Year’s Gift Guide, too! That’s one of the reasons I love this book so much. You aren’t going to use it once and put it away after Halloween. You can keep pulling it out throughout the year. There are ballerinas that immediately reminded me of Suzanne.
There are art-related stickers that made me think about Meet Me at the Museum and art lovers. There is a milkshake that reminded me of Charlie and me talking about going to get a milkshake. I could peel that sticker out and put it on his desk as a reminder! There are Reese’s Pieces.
There are cakes, which made me think about Charlie’s birthday coming up soon. There are alphabet stickers. Beautiful pink roses. White doves. A heart filled with flowers. And one of my favorites says: “Grateful for You.” Because I am grateful for you. You know I love that one.
There are also bicycles and some really cute sayings: “This is how I roll.” “Keep calm and pedal on.” “Back to work.” Which I needed to be reminded of. “Work to bike.” “Keep it wheel.” I love the blue bicycle with the basket on the back. And there is another greenish bicycle decorated with flowers and baskets.
There is even a helmet. And yes, I’m going to need that helmet because when I ride a bike, I fall off more times than I care to admit! I love that I can look at this book and already start thinking about Christmas. There are stickers I can use to decorate presents. Stickers for cards. Stickers for envelopes. Stickers that could become part of a handmade gift.
And if you’re someone who loves putting a personal touch on Christmas packages, I think this book would be so much fun. You could take an ordinary package and make it completely your own. The more I looked through this book, the more people I could think of who would enjoy it. I think it would make a wonderful gift for:

Remember my sister? She would probably leave every single one of these stickers in perfect condition.
No judgment, Julia because my sister would do the same. I’m going to ask Santa when were loading up his Sleigh to bring me another copy of this book. One book that I can use the stickers in. And one that I can’t. Because sometimes you want to stick them everywhere. And sometimes you just want to look at them.
What I really love about The Eclectic World of Julia Rothman Sticker Book is that it isn’t just a collection of stickers. It is a collection of possibilities. You can use a sticker to decorate a gift. You can make an invitation. You can create a scrapbook page. You can decorate a journal. You can make a birthday card. You can create a little picture and tell a story.
Or you can see a typewriter and suddenly remember your dad. You can see a pair of red sneakers and think about Charlie. You can see a ballerina and remember Suzanne. You can see a mixer and start thinking about what Santa might bring you. That’s what happened to me. I started with stickers. I ended up with memories.
I originally picked this book up thinking about our Halloween content. But now I’m telling you, this book belongs in more than one Greatful Moments gift guide. Instead, Julia Rothman took me back to my childhood bedroom, to my dad’s typewriter company, to my childhood cat, to Lisa Frank stickers, to my sister’s sticker collection, to Charlie, to Suzanne, to Christmas, Halloween, New Year’s, baking, bicycles, milkshakes, and so much more.
And I’m telling you, this book has a little bit of everything—and things we didn’t even know we needed. So yes, I think this is a wonderful addition to our Halloween Interactive Gift Guide. But I’m also putting it in our Christmas Gift Guide/ Wish List and even our Interactive Christmas Guide.
And I’m keeping it in mind for New Year’s. Because this isn’t just a book for children. It’s a book for teachers, scrapbook lovers, art lovers, museum lovers, parents, children, crafters, collectors, and anyone who still gets excited about stickers.
