Charlie has been complaining this week that he is bored which is his fault since he doesn’t want to look for a job or go see his friends. I decided to take some time off the other day to spend with Charlie. We went to get a drink snack from QT and came home to watch Crunchy Roll on his computer.

Why Charlie was finding Dragon Ball for us to watch I went into the game closet and picked out a couple games for us to play. One of the games I picked out was Spy × Family Search Four Seasons. Charlie was surprised to find out the game came from Cruncyroll and couldn’t wait to tell his dad.

When Charlie & I opened the box for Spy × Family Search Four Seasons, the first thing that caught my eye was the adorable pastel pink and yellow box. I really liked the colors, and then I noticed the girl on the front holding her hand up. She has beautiful green eyes, pink hair, and a dark navy-blue dress with a white bow. Her outfit almost reminds me of a graduation gown, although it isn’t one.

And that pink hair? Charlie would absolutely love it! Then I noticed the little robot and lion, and I couldn’t wait to share this game with Charlie. When Charlie was homeschooling, I always had Charlie think outside the box so we could study things he was interested and we used Crunchyroll as part of his school experience. Spy × Family Search Four Seasons is a memory game for 2–4 players, making it perfect for Charlie and me. It takes approximately 15–30 minutes to play, which means it’s easy to fit into a busy day. We could even play it during the commercials of one of our favorite shows.

The game is recommended for ages 8 and up which is perfect for my nieces and nephews. The basic idea is the classic memory game we know and love, but with a Spy × Family twist. Players turn over cards to find matching outfits featuring the Forgers and work toward completing sets.

There are 30 playing cards, a rule sheet, and four tokens included. But watch out for those pesky Tonitrus bolts! You want to keep away from them so you don’t get into trouble. And I get enough trouble on my own, so I’ll definitely be trying to stay away from those! LOL.

If you match the Forgers into a complete outfit set, you can earn extra points. The player with the most matches and completed sets wins. Charlie and I had our own fashion rule which made playing the game with Charlie so much fun.We were literally laughing on the floor.

And we didn’t even put the clothes together the “natural” way. We made the outfits our way because, as you all know, Charlie is a fashionista and loves thinking outside the box when it comes to clothes. LOL. That’s one of the things I loved about playing it with him. We weren’t just quietly turning over cards. We were talking, laughing, making our own combinations, and enjoying time together.

On the box is a little penguin, a robot, and a lion, among the characters we noticed while playing. Charlie liked the robot. Of course, he did. David gravitated toward the lion. And I chose the penguin, because it made me think of Suzanne. I love when something as simple as a family game can create those little personal connections.

Even though Charlie has graduated from homeschooling, this game immediately made me think about our homeschool days. When I was homeschooling Charlie, I loved using board games as teaching moments is #homeschooligwithboardgames. Learning didn’t always have to look like sitting at a desk with a textbook.

A memory game like this can encourage children to practice memory, concentration, observation, matching, counting, following directions, and taking turns. And because this game involves outfits, you can even turn it into a conversation about colors, clothing, patterns, seasons, and creating different combinations. So yes, I would absolutely recommend Spy × Family Search Four Seasons as a homeschool game. #Homeschooling #TeachingMoment

After playing this game with Charlie, I’m thinking Santa and I may be loading the sleigh this year! We might have to make a stop at Walmart or Target to pick up some of these games for the children on his Christmas gift list. Because I can already see this becoming one of those games that gets pulled out during family time, especially because it doesn’t take hours to play.
