Some Days Don’t Go as Planned (But They Still Work Out)

I don’t know about in your home but in my home some days don’t go as planned (but for the most part they still work out.) But they still come together or I like to think they do. How about in your home does this happen.

This morning started with me throwing a roast in the crockpot and hoping for the best. Didn’t even flip it right — just got it going and ran out the door. By the time I got home (after a full morning of running, helping family, and putting out little fires), I finally added the carrots and potatoes around noon and said… okay, we’re making this work.

And here’s the part that matters: That roast came from Kroger — 99¢ a pound.
David and I paid about $7 and saved $13 right there. That was a blessing because drinks were on sale too — grabbed a 2-liter Dr Pepper for $1 with the Kroger card.

When we checked out, our total was $22… but we saved $33. That’s not just a sale — that’s how you stretch a budget without feeling like you’re going without. And the best part? That one roast is doing double duty.

Tonight — it’s a full meal with pot roast with brown gravy and potatoes and carrots inside the roast made in my crock pot. Tomorrow — the pot roast turns into hot roast beef sandwiches with brown gravy and homemade mashed potatoes or sandwiches as everyone can fend for themselves and David will not need to cook.

One meal turned into two… maybe even three if we stretch it right. That’s real life. I don’t know about your home but that’s how we make things work not only in my home but David’s parents as well.

Tell me — what’s the best deal you’ve found lately?

Thank you,
