RED, WHITE & BLUE FAMILY COUNTDOWN: Red, White & Blue Family Countdown Day 2: Easy Paper Plate Fireworks Craft for Kids (Mess-Free Patriotic Fun)

???????? Welcome to Day 2 of our Red, White & Blue Family Countdown!

Yesterday my family shared a fun backyard scavenger hunt, that can be done with your friends and family. Today we’re moving into something kids absolutely love—a simple patriotic craft that turns into a keepsake for the week.

No stress, no fancy supplies, and nothing expensive. Just a little creativity and time together. This craft is for children of all ages with parental supervision. I remember when Charlie was in elementary school and he made this for our family. Even though Charlie is 19 I still have the one he made and I always put it out during the 4th of July.

TODAY’S ACTIVITY: PAPER PLATE FIREWORKS CRAFT

This is a fun and flexible craft that works for all ages.

???? Supplies Needed:

  • 1–2 paper plates
  • Red, white, and blue paint (or markers)
  • Paintbrush or sponge
  • Scissors (adult help if needed)
  • Glue (optional glitter or star stickers)

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Take a paper plate and cut small slits around the edges (like a sunburst shape).
  2. Gently bend the edges outward to create texture.
  3. Paint or color the plate in red, white, and blue designs.
  4. Add stars, glitter, or stickers if you want extra sparkle.
  5. Let it dry and display it as your “fireworks art.”

???? Tip: If you don’t want mess, use crayons or markers instead of paint.

FAMILY EXTENSION IDEA

While crafting, talk with your kids about:

  • What fireworks represent
  • Favorite summer memories
  • What they’re excited for on the 4th of July

This turns a simple craft into a memory-building moment and this activity can be used for families #Homeschooling thee children.

Once you and your family finishes come and share a photo with me
