Reading Rainbow Skybrary Family Brings Us New Books

As for me personally, I do not remember Reading Rainbow so I want to ask my sister and brother if they remember it. As well as if they watched it and if so what did they think of it and why.

It was a classic TV series that invoked a love of reading in us as kids.

Now — Reading Rainbow is bringing that “old technology” (ha!) up to date with the Reading Rainbow.

What is it exactly?

A curated online library of books that brings reading to life for 2-9 year olds. And it’s made in a fun way where your kids each have their own digital backpack (that they get to choose the design of too, by the way). Your kids ‘check out’ book from the Skybrary by piloting their own hot air balloon to the themed magical island that they’re interested in (rockets and space, animals, things that go, princes and princesses and more).

Each book has the option of “Read to Me” or “Read by Myself”. Plus, each book has games to go with each one to make it fun and interactive.

Your kids can also go on over 250 educational video field trips with host LeVar Burton around the themes that they’re interested in (ever want to go on a Pirate ship?!).

This goes hand-in-hand with the Hands On As We Grow philosophy of going off of what your child is interested in and creating activities around that. Same goes for books and learning! Use what they already love as a way to get them interested in learning more, more, more!
