I wanted to welcome you back to Questions That Make Us Go HUH and I wanted to remind you some questions we will be asking are serious. Some of the questions make us think. And some just make us go, hmm… Giving us the opportunity to get to know each other a little better. If you have a question that makes you go hmm leave me a comment and I will ask our readers what they think.
Today’s question is one we’ve actually talked about around our house: Bubble bath or body wash—and why? Or both like my family is.
For Charlie and me, bubble baths used to be a regular thing. When we lived in our trailer, we had a garden tub, and oh, how we loved that tub! There was something about filling it up, adding our favorite bubble bath, climbing in, and just soaking for a while. The only problem was I had to get a bath first because getting Charlie out of the tub and heading into the shower was harder than pulling teeth.
Charlie would stay in there for hours on end if he didn’t have a frog living in our shower which happened more times than not. Just ask David who would come home from work and want to take a shower and he couldn’t because the frog was occupying the shower or Charlie was and sometimes one of the dogs.
I especially loved being able to find all the different bubble bath varieties at places like Avon and Walmart. There were so many scents, colors, and brands to try. Then we moved into our apartment. And our bathtub is so low to the ground that getting in and out of it isn’t easy for me. One of the things I miss most is being able to take a long, relaxing bubble bath.
So, I’ve had to make a little sacrifice and become a body wash girl. And honestly, I’ve had fun with it. I’ve started paying more attention to all the different body washes, the scents, the companies, and the varieties sitting on the shelves. I’ve discovered that Dove is one of my favorite brands, although there are a couple of others I really enjoy, too.
Charlie, on the other hand, still hasn’t given up on his bubble baths. And if you know Charlie, you know this makes me laugh. He’s six feet tall, and our bathtub is definitely not designed for someone his size. Somehow, he manages to get himself into that tub, scrunches down into what looks like a little ball, and pours in tons and tons and tons of bubble bath.
He says that’s his favorite way to take a bath. He does use body wash, too, but there’s just something about soaking in the tub that he loves. He says that when he gets to soak, he feels more rested, and it helps his knees, too. Honestly, I think what Charlie really needs is a walk-in tub because he’s way too big for ours!
And then there’s David. I hear it all the time: “Man, I miss our garden tub.” He wishes we still had that big tub so he could climb in, fill it up, add some Calgon, and just soak his cares away. He’d probably still be in there saying, “Calgon, take me away!” But since our current tub isn’t exactly made for that kind of relaxing, he’s had to give up the bubble bath, too.
So now he’s using body wash. But according to David, that doesn’t mean he’s given up on bubble baths forever. If we ever get another garden tub, I already know what he’s going to do. He’ll probably fill that thing up, pour in the Calgon, climb in, and stay there until somebody makes him get out! And that’s what makes this question fun.
Sometimes it’s not really about the product. It’s about the experience. A bubble bath can mean relaxing after a long day. It can mean taking time for yourself. It can bring back memories of a home you once lived in or a time when life was a little different. And body wash can be just as much fun when you start exploring all the scents, brands, and varieties available today. So now I’m curious about you.

💭 Questions That Make Us Go, Hmm…
Bubble bath or body wash—and why?
Do you love filling the tub, turning on the water, adding your favorite bubble bath, and soaking? Or are you a body wash person who prefers a quick shower and being on your way? And if you could have your dream bathtub again, would you choose a garden tub, a walk-in tub, or something completely different? Tell us in the comments. Because around here, we’re still dreaming about that garden tub. 🛁Or claw foot tub my grandmother had that one day I will have.
