As Charlie gets older and has one foot in Texas and one in Oklahoma for Christmas I will be purchasing items Charlie would need if he decides to move out on his own. One of the Gifts I will be giving Charlie this year is PuroAir 100i HEPA Smart Air Purifier because he has Allergies.
Until he decides for sure where he wants to live were living in a small townhouse and that means learning to make the most of every inch of space. When you don’t have a lot of room, you have to think carefully about what comes through the front door and where everything is going to go.
Sometimes bringing home one more appliance means finding space that could have been used for something else. But every once in a while, something comes along that makes finding that extra space worthwhile. This Christmas, one of those gifts is for Charlie we received a PuroAir 100i HEPA Smart Air Purifier, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works in our home.
Charlie and David have allergies, so I thought an air purifier would be a thoughtful and practical Christmas gift. Rather than giving Charlie something that might end up tucked away in a closet, I wanted something he could actually use in his everyday life. And with a household that includes two dogs, dust, and the occasional lingering cooking odors from the neighborhood, I’m certainly interested in seeing what this little machine can do!
The PuroAir 100i is a compact, portable air purifier with a suitcase-style handle that makes it easier to move from one room to another. According to the manufacturer, it can cover up to 550 square feet in an hour. Which will allow us to move it into the upstairs bathroom and it should cover that room and mine and Charlie’s bedroom at the same time saving us money because we wouldn’t have to purchase a second unit.
One of the features I was interested in was its three-layer filtration system:
- Pre-screen filter: Captures larger particles, including dust and pet hair.
- HEPA filter: Helps capture smaller airborne particles.
- CarbonTech activated carbon filter: Helps reduce odors and smoke.
The manufacturer states that the filtration system captures up to 99.9% of airborne particles as small as 0.1 microns under its specified testing conditions. The purifier also has four fan settings: Low, Medium, High, and Sleep. Its lowest advertised noise level is 22 decibels.
Another feature I’m looking forward to exploring is the PuroAir mobile app. The 100i is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatible and offers smart controls through the app. Users can manage fan speeds and settings, receive notifications, and monitor filter replacement reminders. It also supports voice controls through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. I haven’t connected everything yet, so I’ll be sharing more about the setup and app experience in my full review.
When you’re shopping on a budget, the original purchase price isn’t the only thing worth considering. You also need to think about what it costs to maintain a product. The PuroAir website lists the one-time purchase price at $109.99. The company also offers an optional filter subscription with 20% savings on filters shipped every 90 days.
Additional advertised benefits include 5% back on subscription orders and a lifetime purifier warranty with an active filter subscription. The company also offers a two-year warranty with product registration.
These are details worth considering when deciding whether an air purifier fits your household budget. The website also has a blog, brand ambassador opportunities, a Puro Rewards loyalty program, and information about other products. I’ll be exploring those options as I get to know the company better.
For our family, this isn’t simply about bringing another appliance into a small home. It’s about finding something useful that Charlie can enjoy and hopefully benefit from as part of his everyday surroundings. I’m especially interested in seeing how the activated carbon filter handles lingering cooking odors and how the purifier performs in Charlie’s room. We’ll also be testing the noise levels, different fan settings, and mobile app features.
Since this is Charlie’s Christmas present, I’m saving the actual testing and hands-on experience for after Christmas. I want to give him time to use his new purifier so we can share our honest experiences rather than make promises before we’ve had a chance to try it.
Stay tuned as we put the PuroAir 100i HEPA Smart Air Purifier to work in our little townhouse! Sometimes the best gifts aren’t the biggest or most expensive. Sometimes they’re the ones that show you’ve been thinking about what someone really needs.
