I was working on a Christmas List for Charlie and David and what gifts to get them and also for Charlie’s Birthday when I thought of a funny story I wanted to share with you. Some families have Christmas traditions involving matching pajamas, baking cookies, or decorating the Christmas tree. In our family, apparently, underwear has managed to become part of the holiday memories! And before you laugh, let me explain how they’ve stolen the show through the years.
When I was growing up, my grandfather my mother’s mother my papa had a Christmas tradition of buying all the adult women in the family a pair of underwear. Not, two or three pairs. Just a single pair of underwear. Now, you might think that sounds like a practical gift, but my grandfather had a mischievous side.
My Aunt Katherine and he used to butt heads, but they loved each other more than just about anybody. One of his favorite ways to tease her was to buy her the frilliest red underwear one year and black the next year that he could find. And he didn’t stop there. He would get the biggest size available, even though Aunt Katherine was a tiny little woman!
As a child, I didn’t think much about women opening underwear for Christmas. It was just something that happened in our family. Looking back, though, those are the little memories that make me smile. And apparently, my family’s underwear Christmas tradition didn’t end with my grandfather.
Years later, when I was married to my ex-husband, Everett, Suzzane’s step0dad we were out shopping for Christmas gifts. My mom had been complaining that she couldn’t find her underwear. She would walk around the house hollering, “My underwear disappeared! My underwear disappeared! I don’t know where they are!”
Well, Everett thought he had the perfect solution. He bought my mom a pair of thongs! Now, imagine my mom opening that present in front of everybody. I thought she was going to get mad. Instead, she started laughing out loud. Then, just to get even with him, she put those thongs on her head and wore them like a hat!
And that included to the dinner table where my dad told her to take them off her head and she said no. I want everyone to see what I got for Christmas and she didn’t mind telling people who got them for her. LOL I don’t think Everett expected that response, but Mom wasn’t about to let him embarrass her without getting a little teasing of her own.
When I think about those Christmas memories, I can’t help but laugh. Apparently, underwear can make quite an impression when it comes to family gift-giving! This Christmas, I started thinking about continuing the family tradition, although hopefully without the oversized red underwear or thongs on anybody’s head!
David and Charlie are both on my Christmas list, and I started thinking about what I could put in their Christmas stockings. Sometimes we spend so much time searching for the perfect Christmas present that we forget about the everyday things people actually need. Men need new underwear, too!
That’s when I came across SilkCut Underwear, a company who sent me information on there company which offers men’s underwear designed with different fabrics for different needs. One product that caught my attention is the SilkCut MicroModal® AIR Boxer Brief.
These underwear are made with 94% MicroModal® AIR and 6% elastane, these boxer briefs feature a contoured pouch, no fly, and a 3-inch inseam. They’re designed as a breathable everyday layer for men who want comfortable support under their everyday clothing. A single pair retails for $40.
That may sound like a lot for a pair of underwear and that is why I would like to try them out so I can honestly share why they are worth the $20 and so much more. One thing worth knowing before ordering is that SilkCut says this particular style runs small, so customers should consult the size guide and consider sizing up if they’re unsure. You can learn more about the SilkCut MicroModal® AIR Boxer Briefs and check out the SilkCut Size Guide.
I have to admit, I’m already imagining Christmas Eve at our house. The stockings are hanging, everyone is opening their Christmas Stockings, and David and Charlie reach inside expecting candy or something fun. Instead, they pull out a pair of underwear!
I wonder what their expressions will look like. Will they laugh? Will they give me that look that says, “Mom, seriously? Underwear for Christmas?” Either way, I think it would be a fun and practical stocking surprise. And who knows? Maybe this will become another one of those family Christmas memories we laugh about for years to come.
After all, not every Christmas present needs to be a toy, electronic gadget, or something expensive. Sometimes the everyday essentials are the gifts that get used the most. There is one saying that has always made me smile: Never leave home without a clean pair of underwear! From the mouth of my Grandma Dorie but I can also hear Santa saying it to the Elves before they atart there journey on Christmas Eve.
So why not help Santa out this Christmas and make sure the men in our lives have a fresh pair ready to go? SilkCut’s MicroModal® AIR Boxer Briefs offer a practical gift idea for men who appreciate everyday essentials, and they might just make an unexpected addition to a Christmas stocking. As for our family, I’ll be watching David and Charlie when they open theirs. And if either one decides to wear his underwear on his head, I’ll have another Christmas story to share!
Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed.
