My Kitchen Towel Collection Is Getting a New Theme!

If you’ve been around Greatful Moments for a while, you know I love decorating my home for the holidays. One of the ways I do that is with kitchen cup towels! Yes, you heard me right cup towels and even placemats at times. I know, I know. Some people collect fancy dishes, others collect coffee mugs, and some people collect things that need an entire room to display. Me? I enjoy finding kitchen towels that make me smile. And lately, I’ve been thinking my kitchen towel collection needs a new theme!

I already have kitchen towels for different holidays, and I enjoy changing them throughout the year. When Halloween rolls around, I want Halloween decorations. When Christmas arrives, I switch things up again. I like having those little touches around the house that remind me what season we’re celebrating.

I also have Cartoon cup towels, but now I’m thinking about adding more fun character towels to the mix. Why not? Kitchen towels don’t have to be plain or boring. They can show off a favorite character, remind you of a childhood memory, or simply make you laugh when you walk into the kitchen. And if you know me, you know I love things that bring back family memories!

My recent Dollar Tree shopping trip gave me a little inspiration. I found a Garfield cup and two Garfield kitchen towels, and naturally, I had to bring them home! Garfield and Odie were favorites of Charlie’s when he was a little boy.

We watched the show countless times, so seeing those characters again took me right back to those days. I even found myself asking the question every Garfield fan should ask when looking at that cup: Where’s the lasagna? Then I thought of my Aunt Sue and these would make a fun Gift for her.

If you’d like to read the whole story about my Dollar Tree finds, Charlie’s childhood memories, and my memories of Aunt Sue, be sure to check out my separate post, [My Dollar Tree Garfield Fun: A Little Nickelodeon Nostalgia, Memories of Charlie, and Where’s the Lasagna?].

But that shopping trip also got me thinking about my collection as a whole. Maybe it’s time to start looking for more kitchen towels featuring fun characters! One place I’ll be keeping an eye on is Dollar Tree. Finding because finding something cute for around $1.25 is always a treat, especially when it brings back memories or gives me a new idea for decorating.

I’d also encourage you to look at Cracker Barrel if you enjoy collecting kitchen cup towels. They have some cute designs that might be just the thing for your own collection. I’ll admit their towels can cost a little more than I like to spend. But sometimes you have to splurge a little on something that makes you happy! You never know when you’ll come across a design that fits your home, reminds you of someone special, or makes you smile every time you see it.

What I love about collecting kitchen cup towels is that they can be more than something you hang in the kitchen. My holiday towels help me celebrate the seasons. My cartoon cup towels remind me of a place I love. And now, character towels are giving me another way to bring a little fun and nostalgia into our home.

I’m looking forward to seeing which characters I can find next. Who knows? Maybe I’ll end up with enough different designs to make a whole month of character-themed kitchen towel fun! For now, Garfield has officially helped inspire the next chapter of my collection.

Do you collect kitchen cup towels? Do you change them for the holidays, or do you have favorite characters, places, or designs you like to display in your home? I’d love to hear what you’re collecting!

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
