One of the things I love about homeschooling is that education doesn’t have to happen inside four walls. Sometimes the best classroom is a soccer field. For Charlie it was not only being outside but on his games and also using board games in our classes
With Charlie he had to learn how to work with a team, and to encourage someone else who might have gotten something he wanted, how to take a loss gracefully, listen to a coach even when he didn’t want to, and to keep trying when something is difficult, which sometimes led Charlie to discover that he really did love a sport he had never tried before.
That’s why I wanted to put N Zone Sports North Fort Worth on our homeschool family’s list of local places to check out. Even though Charlie is older now and has finished schooling I have friends who homeschool there children and this is why I wanted to share this new company with you.
I wanted to share what caught my attention about N Zone Sports NFW is that they don’t just offer youth sports. Their team specifically says they bring their Home-School P.E. programs to local homeschool communities, churches and co-ops throughout the North Fort Worth area.
I will be letting the American Legion know because the host a #Homeschool Co-Op on Thursday afternoons and this would give the children something else to do. As well as the Government Housing Office around the corner from the American Legion.
And that makes this more than just signing your child up for a Saturday sport. It can become part of your homeschool experience. Which would have been a Godsend for my family because it would have given Charlie other children to be around while someone else taught him PE which some days I couldn’t do because of my knee and David wasn’t home to help we couldn’t do PE that day and did free play instead.
I also like finding out N Zone Sports serves families in communities including North Fort Worth, Haslet, Saginaw, Eagle Mountain, Fort Worth, Euless, Hurst, Bedford, North Richland Hills my hometown and Keller. Their programs are designed for children to have fun while developing athletic skills, confidence and character.
Their approach focuses on four values that fit beautifully with what many homeschool families are already trying to teach their children: teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship and effort.
I especially like that they emphasize giving kids a positive sports experience. Their regular youth leagues don’t require tryouts or drafts, which I was excited to find out and they make an effort to give every child an opportunity to participate which would have been nice for Suzzane who wasn’t good at sports and was never picked for a team which is hard on a child.
That can be important for families who aren’t looking for an ultra-competitive environment but simply want their children to get moving, make friends and learn how to be part of a team.
And there are plenty of sports to explore. N Zone Sports North Fort Worth offers programs including flag football, soccer, cheerleading I can’t wait to tell my sister Debbie about for my niece Lily, T-ball, basketball for my nephew Jason, golf Suzzane and Charlie would have liked to learn and multisport programs, depending on the current season.
For families looking ahead to fall, their 2026 fall sports registration is already underway. Current offerings include youth flag football and soccer, with girls’ cheer also being offered. The fall season begins October 17. Making this a nice gift to give children for Halloween instead of more candy they may or may not need.
So if you’re building your homeschool plans for the coming school year, don’t forget to put physical education on the list. It doesn’t have to mean buying a curriculum and trying to figure out how to teach a sport in your backyard.
Sometimes P.E. can mean getting outside, joining other homeschool families, learning a new skill and letting somebody else handle the coaching. And sometimes the lesson your child remembers years from now won’t be the score of the game.
It will be the friend they made. The teammate they encouraged. The time they didn’t give up. Or the moment they discovered, “Hey, I’m actually pretty good at this!” That’s a homeschool lesson, too.
