Good morning, how are you? I thought I would share two Homeschool Resources with you. If you have used either resource leave me a comment and let me know what you thought of these resources and why.

Sanford Pencil Factory Tour

All grades, with parental supervision

Join Doug Martin as he takes visitors on a tour of the Sanford Corporation pencil factory in Lewisburg, Tennessee. When arriving at the link, read the information about the processes highlighted on the page, click the images for a larger view (you will need to hit your “Back” button to return to the tour after viewing the image), and use the “Next Page” or “Previous Page” text links on the bottom of the page to navigate through the tour. Your tour includes:

  • The mixing area
  • Assembly of cores and slats
  • Adding of the ferrules (the aluminum ring at the top of a pencil) and erasers
  • Views of the production line and assembly line
  • Mechanical Pencil assembly
  • The EPCON process
  • Paper pencil wrapping
