Homeschool Resources: Math

Welcome to Monday morning. How was your weekend? Before we leave to run errands this morning. I wanted to bring you our Homeschool Resources: Math. I had fun this morning checking out FreeRice.com Math which offers us questions on our Multiplication Tables, but I also had fun checking out the Pop Music Quiz which could be used for our Music Class.
Catchup Math

Annual Subscription

Does your student have an area in their math study that needs improvement? Catchup Math can be used as a complete math curriculum or to find learning gaps and refresh them with lessons, videos, practice, and activities. Available as a 3-month or 1-year subscription.

FreeRice.com: Math– Grades 1-12, with parental supervision

Test your Multiplication Tables and Basic Math (Pre-Algebra) skills and earn food for the hungry!
Scroll down to Math and choose from:

  • Multiplication Table
  • Basic Math – PreAlgebra
  • Derivatives
  • Geometry

Click on your choice to get to the quiz. FreeRice automatically adjusts to your level of ability as you take each quiz. It starts by giving you math equations at different levels of difficulty and then, based on how you do, assigns you an approximate starting level. You then determine a more exact level for yourself as you play. When you get a math problem wrong, you go to an easier level. When you get three problems in a row right, you go to a harder level. This one-to-three ratio keeps you challenged to encourage learning.
You can set your own level and you can even have the site remember your total from the last time you were there if you create an account.
And, with every right answer, you donate ten grains of rice through the UN World Food Program to help end hunger. This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.
The site has expanded to include quizzes in other subjects:

  • English
  • Geography
  • Humanities
  • Language Learning
  • Science
  • And more

If you have more questions, check out the About section. This is a fun and ingenious idea that will motivate kids to practice math while helping others.
