These offers was comprised for Teacher Precipitation week and somehow I missed sharing them with you. Although with School ending this week for Charlie I thought his teachers might need to know we appreciate them and through the resources we might be able to show them this.

The Legacy of Knights and Castles

Did you know (May 4) was #StarWarsDay? Although advancements in combat brought the age of knights to an end, they’re not forgotten. The Star Warsmovies feature Jedi knights who hop from planet to planet, and carry on the tradition of dueling–just with “light sabres.” Want to learn more about their evolution over time?

Famous Shipwrecks

What made the United States enter World War I? Some say it was the sinking of the Lusitania. On May 7, 1915, the British passenger vessel was hit by a torpedo from German U-boat. It took just 18 minutes for the entire ship to sink, killing all 1,198 people on board. Read more about other iconic shipwrecks in this Topic.

Birth of the Civil Rights Movement

Born during this week in 1884 was the 33rd President of the United States, Harry Truman. Recognizing that the U.S. government was slow to end segregation, and extremely embarrassed by it, in 1948 he ordered an end to segregation in the military. This Topic details the milestone events that birthed the Civil Rights movement in our country.

Victory in Europe

This Thursday (May 9) is #EuropeDay, and although there is still work to be done, this day recognizes the peace and prosperity within Europe that has been achieved to this day. Did you know it was originally celebrated in 1945 (on May 8) to mark the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany’s surrender?
