Food Holidays: October 2022: National Popcorn Poppin’ Month

Welcome to our series sharing Food Holidays: October 2022: National Popcorn Poppin’ Month. I don’t know about you but I love Popcorn and on days like this I miss my mom so much as she loved loved loved Popcorn. I wish I could visit the Theater and bring her a bag home. Since I can’t would you like to go to the Movies with me and we can order a Soda and Popcorn?

NATIONAL POPCORN POPPIN’ MONTH

Popcorn lovers rejoice! Today is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month an annual designation observed in October. This is the best because we can’t think of any party, event, or celebration that wouldn’t be appropriate to serve Popcorn.

Whether you’re watching a movie, celebrating a birthday, or hanging out and watching the big game, Popcorn is always there. It’s easy, inexpensive, and addicting beyond belief. Have you ever had just one piece of Popcorn and then stopped? Of course not.

How to observe:

Pop Popcorn, snap photos and use #NationalPopcornPoppinMonth to share on Social Media. As if we need more of an excuse to snack on Popcorn all month. We’ve compiled a list on why Popcorn is the best snack ever.

  1. Movie Theatre Butter. Need we say more?
  2. There are different variations of Popcorn, making it nearly impossible to get sick of.
  3. Popcorn is actually not that bad for you and Popcorn is super low in calories!
  4. All the best places offer Popcorn including Sporting events, movie theatres, and the comfort of our own home.

We could go on forever, but we’re starting to have cravings over here. Bottom line, Popcorn is a delicious, inexpensive, easy, and Buttery treat we can’t go wrong with.

HISTORY

For more than 30 years, October has been celebrated as National Popcorn Poppin’ Month; however, this holiday became “official” in 1999, when then Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman proclaimed October as National Popcorn Poppin’ Month.
