Finding Home in North Richland Hills

As a child I was blessed to live in my child hood home most of my life and that is what I wanted for my kids when they were little. For Suzzane that happened and when we moved into our Mobile Home I thought the same thing would happen for Charlie. But the LORD had other plans for my family.

After spending so many years connected to Haltom City, we thought we knew where our next chapter would begin. When we moved, we believed we were moving into an apartment in Haltom City.Sometimes we think we know exactly where life is taking us, and then God opens a door we never expected.

But we soon discovered something unexpected. Our new home was actually in North Richland Hills. But if you walked a Street or two over you would have been in Haltom City and we even have a Haltom City zip code which can make things even more confusing when trying to get packages delivered.

For my family it was a funny adjustment because we were still learning the boundaries between North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, and Haltom City. In some ways, it felt like we were still connected to the place we loved because we could be there in the blink of an eye.

But little by little, we started discovering this new community and realizing that home is not only about an address. Home is where your family gathers. Home is where new memories are made and home is where you continue growing together. Which is what happened once we got settled.

Moving to North Richland Hills has given us new places to explore and new experiences to share as a family. We had fun learning the streets, finding new favorites, and enjoying the simple adventure of discovering a new area while still being close to the places that shaped our past.

One of the beautiful things about life is that every season brings something new. Watauga gave me my childhood memories. Haltom City gave me friendships, family, love, healing, and years of raising Charlie. Fort Worth gave me time to raise Suzzane before moving back to Haltom City. And now North Richland Hills is becoming another chapter in our family story.

It reminds me that home is not always one single place. Sometimes home is a collection of memories, people, and blessings gathered together over a lifetime. The places we have lived have each left their mark on our family. They have taught us new things and they have challenged us.

They have given us moments we will always treasure. As we continue this journey, we are grateful for the roads behind us and the road ahead. Because every road, every home, and every chapter has been part of the story God has been writing all along. Back roads, new adventures, and countless blessings — that is what makes a place feel like home.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
