I thought I would ask you a question this morning. Have you ever looked at your computer desktop and wondered how it got so cluttered? You save a picture here, download a document there, and before you know it, you’ve got files scattered everywhere! Sometimes it’s easier to ignore the mess than to sit down and do something about it.
Our lives can get that way, too. We get busy taking care of our families, working, keeping up with appointments, paying bills, and trying to remember everything we’re supposed to do. Before we know it, our minds are full, our to-do lists are overflowing, and we’re wondering when we’ll have time to catch our breath.
That’s why I think it’s interesting that today is both National Clean Your Virtual Desktop Day and Evaluate Your Life Day. Perhaps we can use the two holidays as a reminder to take care of a little clutter in both places.
Start with your computer. Delete the files you no longer need, organize those pictures, clear out old downloads, and give yourself a workspace that feels a little less overwhelming. Then take a few minutes for yourself. If this isn’t something your comfortable doing like me its okay to hire someone to do it for you.
Then you should think about the things that are going well in your life. Count your blessings. Thank God for the people who love you and the little moments that make an ordinary day special. Consider the things you’d like to change, too. Is there a relationship that needs attention? Is there something you’ve been putting off? Are you spending enough time doing the things that bring you joy?
Evaluating our lives doesn’t mean finding fault with everything we’ve done. It means recognizing where we are, appreciating how far we’ve come, and deciding what small steps might help us move forward. And please remember, you don’t have to fix everything in one day.
You don’t even have to finish cleaning your computer desktop today! 😂 Sometimes getting back on track begins with one little step, one cleared space, one answered email, one prayer, or one decision to make time for what truly matters. So, friends, let’s make today a fresh start. Clear a little digital clutter, take a deep breath, count your blessings, and give yourself permission to work on the things that matter most.
I’d love to know: Is your computer desktop neat and organized, or could it use a little attention? And when you think about your life, is there one thing you’d like to make more time for?
Let’s encourage one another as we keep moving forward, one day at a time.
