Front Porch & Blessings

This morning I was sitting her thinking about the week that had passed and making plans for the new week with today being Sunday. As I was going over things I began to think of my family, and some of the best memories aren’t made while we’re rushing somewhere. They’re made right here at home.

Sometimes they’re found sitting on the front porch. Sometimes they’re around the kitchen table, in the living room, in the backyard, or simply in the middle of an ordinary day. That’s what Front Porch & Blessings means to me. That is what I hope you feel when you stop by. the site because its about slowing down long enough to notice the life happening right in front of us.

We don’t have to travel far to find something worth remembering. We don’t have to have a big adventure planned or a calendar filled with activities. Sometimes a blessing can be found in a conversation, a laugh, a good meal, a rainy afternoon, a beautiful sunset, a silly moment with the dogs, or simply having the people we love nearby.

For my family life doesn’t always happen on the road. Sometimes it happens right at home. And sometimes home is exactly where we need to be. Over the years, our family has learned that some of the moments we treasure most weren’t the ones we planned. They were the ordinary moments that somehow became special.

Like a conversation that lasted longer than expected. Or something that made all of us laugh. Sitting outside and watching the world go by. Finding something beautiful in an otherwise ordinary day. Remembering someone we love. Trying something new. Cooking together. Sharing a story.

Or simply being together without having to be anywhere else. Those are the moments I want to remember. Those are the moments I want to share. Front Porch & Blessings is a place for those stories. It’s where we’ll talk about family, faith, everyday life, simple joys, things we’re discovering, places we love, things happening around our community, memories from the past, and whatever happens to catch our attention along the way.

Some days may take us somewhere new. Other days, we may not go anywhere at all. And that’s okay. Because there is something pretty special about realizing that you don’t always have to go somewhere to make a memory. Sometimes you just have to slow down enough to see what is already there.

The front porch has always represented that to me—a place to sit for a while. A place to talk. A place to watch the world go by. A place to welcome people. A place to remember. A place to laugh. A place to think. And sometimes, simply a place to be still. I suppose that’s what I want this space to be, too.

A little corner of Greatful Moments where you can pull up a chair and sit with us for a while. There may be stories about our family. There may be everyday discoveries. There may be recipes, memories, faith, laughter, local adventures, simple pleasures, and even a few things that don’t go quite as planned. Because real life isn’t perfect.

But even in the difficult days, there are often little blessings hiding somewhere. We just have to slow down long enough to notice them. So pull up a chair. Stay awhile. Let’s talk about life, family, memories, faith, and all the little things that make an ordinary day special.

Because sometimes the greatest blessings aren’t waiting somewhere down the road. Sometimes they’re right here on the front porch. Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed Thank you for joining us.
