Did You Know? Check the App Before You Pay Full Price! — Slim Chickens

I don’t know if your children are liked Charlie. When your going out to dinner and you ask what they want they say Chicken but more times than not that is what Charlie does. Even though I like Chick Fil A Charlie prefers Cannes and once in a while if were over by Precent Line Road in Hurst he will ask for Slim Chickens.

We used to go there all the time and using the app helped a lot but since we’ve stopped going I’ve removed there app from my phone but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t download it again if things changed.

I have a question for you. Have you ever been getting ready to order dinner and thought, “I wonder if this restaurant has an app?” I’ve done this more times than I can count. As for David and Charlie they would prefer to pay full price than deal with a app. Buttercup, they are crazy.

I have a tip for you if you like to save money like I do. Before you pull out your wallet and pay full price, it is always worth checking. You might discover rewards, special offers, birthday treats, or points you can earn simply by making a purchase you were already planning to make. Today, we’re talking about Slim Chickens and its Slimthusiast Rewards program.

When you download the Slim Chickens app, you’re not just getting another way to order your food. The app connects you with the Slimthusiast Rewards program. You can earn points from qualifying purchases, keep track of your rewards, find your favorite locations and orders, reorder more quickly, and look for special offers.

The nice thing about the app is you don’t have to use the app every single time you order. Slim Chickens also allows you to order online through its website. When you’re signed into your Rewards Account, qualifying online and app purchases can earn points automatically.

That’s important because sometimes we don’t want to download another app or we’re sitting at the computer placing an order. You can use the rewards program online, too. Which is great for me because sometimes I place orders for David to pick up on his way home.

The current Slimthusiast Rewards program gives you 1 point for every $1 spent before tax on qualifying purchases. And here’s where those points become useful: 50 points earns you a $4 reward. Whe ordering for a family it doesn’t take long to accumulate 50 points.

You’re not simply collecting points that sit there forever. You’re working toward an actual reward you can use on a future qualifying purchase. For example, if you spend $20 on one qualifying visit and $30 on another qualifying visit, you’ve earned 50 points. That gets you to your $4 reward. Then you can start working toward your next reward.

One things I like about this app is you don’t have to spend $50 all at once which is one of the things I like about a rewards program. For my family that is a Godsend because I don’t have to walk into Slim Chickens and spend $50 in one visit just to receive a reward.

Your qualifying purchases can add points to your account as you go. So if you’re already eating there occasionally, those points can slowly add up. And when you’ve reached 50 points, you’ve earned that $4 reward. That’s $4 you can use toward a future purchase instead of paying that $4 completely out of your own pocket.

Here is a question I was wondering. Can you earn points on every purchase if I eat therer more than once a day? There is a limit you need to know about. Slim Chickens currently limits members to earning points on two qualifying transactions during a 12-hour period.

So you can’t keep making little purchases all day long just to rack up points. That’s an important detail to know before you start thinking you’ve found a way to earn unlimited points in one day.

My family never order’s thought the Driv-Thru so it was nice knowing we can can still earn rewards on qualifying purchases. Slim Chickens says you can scan the receipt through the app or upload a picture of your receipt within 48 hours.

So don’t be so quick to throw that receipt away! If you forgot to use the app when you ordered, check your receipt and your account to see whether you can still get credit for that purchase.

Another question my family had was if the whole family can share one account? Like most places Slim Chickens Rewards accounts are personal and the current terms say that you cannot share your Rewards Account with family members or friends, and each person may have only one Rewards Account.

So Mom shouldn’t create one account and have everyone in the family use the same account. Instead, eligible family members can have their own individual accounts. The current program is available to people age 13 and older. Members ages 13 through 18 must participate under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

That actually gives us another opportunity for a #TeachingMoment. Our kids can learn how rewards programs work, how to keep track of points, and how to make sure rewards don’t expire. Which could be a Home Econmics class.

Slim Chickens promotes additional benefits through its rewards program, including exclusive offers and birthday treats. Exactly what promotional offers are available can change, so I wouldn’t sign up expecting one particular free item to always be there.

Instead, make it a habit to check your account and the app. You might find an offer you didn’t know was available. And if you’re already planning to eat there, that’s definitely worth checking before you order.

Here is something everyone should be made aware of our points don’t last forever. Slim Chickens’ current Rewards Terms say that points expire 90 days after they are granted. Banked rewards also expire after 90 days.

So don’t think of your rewards account as a place where you can collect points for the next five years. You need to pay attention to those expiration dates. You don’t want to spend your money earning points and then forget about them until they’re gone.

That’s why checking the app regularly is such a good habit. Earn it. Save it. Use it before it expires! This is the type of information that should go inside our app notebook we created the other day.

Now here is the question of the day is the App Worth Checking? I think so—especially if you already eat at Slim Chickens. I’m not saying you should go buy food you don’t need just because you want points. That’s not saving money.

But if Slim Chickens is already on your family’s dinner list, take a minute before you order. Check the app. Check your rewards. Check for special offers. Make sure you’re signed into your account if you’re ordering online.

And if you eat inside the restaurant, remember that you may be able to submit your qualifying receipt afterward. Sometimes saving money isn’t about finding a huge coupon. Sometimes it’s about not leaving money you’ve already earned sitting on the table.

As a mom here is a simple Family Money-Saving Habit which is something we can teach our children, too. Before spending money, ask: “Is there a way to save?” Before throwing away a receipt, ask: “Do I need this for rewards?”

And when you earn points, ask: “When do these points expire?” Those are simple questions, but they’re practical money lessons that children can carry with them as they get older.

Rewards programs can teach us about spending, saving, planning ahead and paying attention to expiration dates. #TeachingMoment Sometimes the best money lessons don’t come from a textbook. They come from something as simple as ordering dinner.

We can teach our children that saving money doesn’t always mean finding a coupon for half price. Sometimes it means using a rewards program for a purchase we’re already making. Sometimes it means remembering a receipt. Sometimes it means checking an app before we pay. And sometimes it means remembering to use what we’ve earned before it expires.

So the next time your family is thinking about Slim Chickens, don’t automatically pay full price without checking first. Open the app. Check your rewards. Check for offers. And don’t let those points expire!
