13 Days to the First Day of School Breakfast Countdown Day 4: Yogurt Parfait Bar — A Fun Breakfast Everyone Can Create

Good morning, friends, and welcome back to Greatful Moments! I don’t know about you but for me it’s hard to believe we are already on Day Four of our 13 Days to the First Day of School Breakfast Countdown. I hope you’ve been enjoying this journey as much as I have. If you have a favorite breakfast recipe your family loves please share it with me by leaving me a comment below.

So far, I’ve shared make-ahead banana muffins, my family tried something new with apple cinnamon overnight oats, and I prepared freezer breakfast burritos not only for my family but Granny Sherry as well for those mornings when life feels extra busy and were rushing to get out the door.

Today, I wanted to share a breakfast idea that is not only easy but also lets everyone in the family be creative. A Yogurt Parfait Bar. This is a new recipe for my family but it will be healthy for me while on my diet. I love having this recipe because breakfast is that it doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes the best ideas are the ones where we put together simple ingredients and let our family make the recipe their own.

Now, my son Charlie has already graduated from high school, but I still love sharing these back-to-school ideas because I know so many families are preparing for those busy mornings. I still have nieces and nephews heading back to school, and I know how helpful it can be to have breakfast ideas that are quick, easy, and family-friendly.

And honestly, this idea works beyond school mornings. A yogurt parfait bar would also be a fun breakfast for David and Charlie before work, a weekend breakfast with family, or even a special surprise breakfast before a big day. I could even see putting this together for teachers and the school staff.

The best part? Everyone gets to choose what they like. Some family members may love berries. Others may prefer granola. Some may want a little honey drizzle, while others may keep it simple. While others may prefer Nuts. There is no wrong way to build your parfait. That is what makes this a Greatful Moment.

How to Create a Yogurt Parfait Bar

Start with a few simple ingredients and let everyone build their own breakfast.

Choose Your Yogurt

You can use:

  • Vanilla yogurt
  • Greek yogurt
  • Strawberry yogurt
  • Your family’s favorite flavor

Add Fruit

Some ideas include:

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Peaches
  • Whatever your family enjoys

Add Crunch

Try:

  • Granola
  • Cereal
  • Chopped nuts (optional)
  • Toasted oats

Add Something Special

You can include:

  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Chocolate chips for a fun treat
  • Coconut
  • Peanut butter drizzle

Kitchen Tools I Used

To create a yogurt parfait bar, these simple tools can help:

  • Small bowls for toppings
  • Serving tray or breakfast tray
  • Glass cups, jars, or bowls for parfaits
  • Spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • Storage containers with lids

These are items you can use again and again for breakfast, snacks, and entertaining.

Make-Ahead Tip

Prepare your toppings ahead of time and store them in containers. In the morning, simply set everything out and let your family create their own parfait. This is especially helpful during busy school weeks when every extra minute matters.

Memory Maker of the Day

Create a “Breakfast Creation Station.”

Let each child make their own parfait and give it a fun name.

Maybe it is:

  • The Back-to-School Berry Blast
  • The Super Student Special
  • The Morning Sunshine Parfait

Sometimes giving children a little choice makes ordinary moments feel special.
