Wednesday and Thursday’s are the two days I never try and make plans for because sometimes David is off one day and other times he is off both days and other times he may end up having to work on both days.
I just go to bed on Tuesday letting the LORD know I’m placing those days in his hands and will wait and see what happens. Because more times than not like today I really didn’t know what to expect other than we were going to clean our room and I might not get much work done.
Yesterday, my friend’s honorary grandson’s mom ended up in the hospital, our plans changed. We were Not only was we supposed to clean our room we was supposed to go to Poncho’s. Then we decided to put that on hold because sometimes life has a way of changing the plans you thought you had made. And that’s okay.
This morning, instead of going to Poncho’s, David and I ran some errands, and we even snuck away to Mo’s for breakfast. Review coming soon. SHHH… Gerald and Charlie don’t need to know that it was really a little #DateNight we needed. 😉
Sometimes a husband and wife just need to sneak away together for a little while, enjoy breakfast, talk, laugh, and remember that they’re a couple—not just two people trying to keep up with everything life throws at them.
And honestly? I needed it more than I care to admit and as for David I’m not so sure he would admit it but he needed it as well. Before you ask me how I know that. It’s because he asked me yesterday to go to breakfast with him. without Gerald and Charlie.
Then we came home and worked on my room. Then I worked on the blog and David went downstairs to work on that area. And you know what? We actually got something done. Not, as much as I wanted but something is better than nothing isn’t it?
David and I had originally planned on working on the entire shelf. Then I made a executive decision while David was outside. I’ve decided that isn’t how I’m going to do this anymore. I’m going to do one complete shelf at a time. Just like with our Grace By Grace: Room by Room Challenge one space at a time.
Today, I finished the middle shelf. The top shelf can wait until next week. There are still totes beside the shelf that I need to go through, but that is going to have to wait until we can move the desk out of the way. And I’m starting to think that maybe I’m ready to let the pink desk go.
That isn’t necessarily an easy decision. I’ ve kept that desk because it reminds me of Suzanne. But I got rid of the pink gaming/office chair because it was in the way. Now, its time for the desk to go and then we will have more room in our room which would be a Godsend.
But I’m also looking at the reality of living in a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath town-home. There simply isn’t an unlimited amount of space. If we go down to one desk upstairs, we’ll have more room. And that extra space could actually be useful for when we need somewhere to put totes and things I’m working on. Sometimes letting go of something doesn’t mean you are letting go of the memory attached to it. The memory stays.
Yesterday, in the middle of everything going on, I received my first pitch for a Valentine’s Day gift guide. Yes, I know. It’s September. Fall isn’t over. Halloween isn’t over. Christmas isn’t over. New Year’s hasn’t even arrived. And I haven’t even started thinking seriously about Valentine’s Day yet!
But someone else already is. And that little email meant more to me than they probably realize. Since moving from TheMommiesReviews.com to GreatfulMoments.com, I’ve wondered more than once whether I would even still be blogging next year.
I wasn’t sure what the future of the site was going to look like. But here was someone reaching out about Valentine’s Day and they knew about GreatfulMoments.com. They knew we had made the move. And they still wanted to work with me. That felt like a little Godwink from the Lord.
Maybe I’m supposed to keep going. Maybe this new chapter really is going somewhere. Maybe I don’t have to know exactly what next year looks like yet. I just need to keep taking the next step one step at a time and to keep being grateful, thankful and blessed for the things the LORD brings us.
It’s Wednesday afternoon, and this is post number seven for today. Number eight is next. Out of my goal of 20 posts today, I honestly didn’t think I’d get this far by Wednesday afternoon. But here we are. I’ve worked on posts. I’ve done some Swagbucks. I’ve gone through some clothes. I’ve pitched.
I’ve got a tote of items waiting for reviews. There’s another tote downstairs filled with new things that have come in. And I’ve gotten one shelf completely cleaned off. That’s progress. It may not look like a finished room. It may not look like everything is crossed off my list. But it’s progress. For me that’s what counts. And today I’m choosing to be grateful, thankful and blessed for that and for David’s help.
It’s about 2 o’clock now, and I’m going to take a little break. I’m planning to work on emails from 2:30 until 3:30 unless David decides he’s ready to finish working on the room. I don’t know what his plans are. And honestly, that’s okay too.
I’m going to place that in the Lord’s hands and see where the rest of the afternoon takes us. I don’t have to force every minute into a plan. I don’t have to finish everything today. I’m learning to break up with that idea. One shelf. One tote. One email. One post. One day at a time.
And somehow, when I stop worrying about doing everything at once, I find that I actually get quite a bit done. Tonight is going to be easy. We’re having Rotel dip. You can make it into nachos if that’s what you want, or you can just grab some chips and make yourself a bowl of dip with that good old Velveeta cheese.
It’s one of those football and tailgating foods that everybody seems to make. But for me, tonight it is something a little more. It’s a throwback to when Suzanne was here. I’ve been tired of eating the same things over and over again, so this week I decided to make a couple of meals that take me back a little.
Rotel dip tonight. Biscuit pizza another night. Nothing fancy. Just food that brings back memories. Sometimes that’s exactly what we need. So if you’re looking for dinner inspiration tonight, consider this your invitation.
Come join us for Rotel dip. You can make nachos or you can dip your chips. You can make it your own. Pull up a chair and eat with us.
Because today may not have gone the way I expected it to. But I’m excited. I’m blessed and I’m grateful. And I’m going to keep moving forward, one Greatful, Thankful and Blessed Moment at a time.
