Basketball Lesson Plan

Homeschool Resource Basketball Lesson Plan for children of all ages.

Day one:  Have your student chose which player they want to learn more about. Charlie has chosen Stephen Curry.

Ask them to write down 3 questions they want to learn about this person.

I asked Charlie to research Stephen through books, the Internet, and Youtube and to write a report.

Have your children write Top 5 Reasons I Admire about the Basketball person there studying

Reading Homework:

Visit your local library and pick out a Book on the player you’re studying and write out a Book Report on him.

Include in the Book Report a picture of something you learned.

Art: Have your children draw something about Basketball they admire

Once Charlie finishes with his art lesson we went outside to play a Pick-Up Game of Basketball and I had him show me some of the moves Stephen uses when playing in a Basketball Game.

PE 

Find a Basketball Game and play a Game of Horse with your students.

Comprehension Questions:

  1. Where was the basketball player your studying born?
  2. What position does your player play in Basketball?
  3. Have they won any championships and if so, how many, when and which ones?
  4. Has the player your studying help a charity if so which one and why?
  5.  Do they play any other sports?
