March 27th Food Holidays: National Whiskey Day

I would like to ask you a question. Did you know March 27th is
National World Whisky Day? I didn’t but if I had I would have liked to share the news with my nephew because Whiskey is his drink of choice.

Along with David while mine is Tequila. But let me tell you I wouldn’t mind have a Whiskey and Coke after the weekend we had. How about you? Or do you prefer your Whiskey neat?

Facts about Whiskey:

•  In American-English and Irish-English, it is spelled “whiskey”.  In British-English, it is spelled “whisky”.
• A whisky stops maturing after it is bottled.
• The dark color of whisky comes from the wooden barrels in which it is aged.
• There are more than 5000 types of Single Malt Whisky.

Whiskey Sour

Makes 1 Servings

2ounces bourbon

¾ ounce fresh lemon juice

¾ ounce simple syrup

½ orange wheel (for serving)Maraschino cherry (for serving)

Step 1

Combine bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.

Step 2

Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.

Step 3

Strain cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer or a slotted spoon into an old-fashioned or rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with orange wheel and cherry.
