Author Sam Baker has led a fascinating and adventure-filled life. He was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and obtained his engineering degree from Mississippi State University.
During World War II, he joined the Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific. Several years later, in the early days of the U.S. space program, he was stationed in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Soon after, he was named Director of the National Geodetic Survey.
After 30 years of service with the NOAA Corps, he retired and became the world’s first GPS salesman. He now lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he craft stories about children and the animals they love into delightful tales for youngsters of all ages.
