My November Soapbox: My Vote, My Business, and My Personal Privacy

Well, it’s November 1st, a brand-new month, and apparently I’m already stepping up on my soapbox. 😂Because it’s time to vote and I saw something on television this morning about voting records and how people can look up whether someone has voted. While I’m trying to convince Charlie he should vote because its his Civiv Rights and now I need to make sure he doesn’t hear this or he will never vote and if the truth is to be told I don’t blame Charlie.

Now, let me make something clear. I understand that election records and election transparency are important. But I also believe there are certain things in life that should remain personal. My vote is one of them. Just like your vote is. I don’t need to know whether my neighbor voted.

I don’t need to look up whether my friends voted. And I certainly don’t want people looking up my personal business. If somebody wants to tell me they voted, that’s their choice. If they want to share who they voted for, that’s their choice, too. But why should anyone else feel entitled to that information?

I always understood that our actual voting choices were private. That’s how a secret ballot is supposed to work. You go in, make your choices, and those choices belong to you. I don’t believe we need to turn every part of our lives into something other people can investigate, discuss, or judge.

We have enough things to worry about without worrying about whether somebody down the street is keeping tabs on our personal decisions. And before anyone starts, I’m not telling anybody how to vote, who to vote for, or whether they should vote. That’s a personal decision. I’m simply saying that privacy matters.

I have to say, buttercup, you can keep scrolling. Move on or move off. I don’t care. 😂 Here’s to November, walking in faith not fear, being thankful for what we have, and remembering that we don’t have to agree on everything to treat each other with kindness. That is why I don’t discuss politics on here until something like this catches my attention.

Now, you now why I don’t watch the news most of the time but this was a commercial playing during the show I was watching which I didn’t want to turn off but after hearing that message I wish I had. Yes, Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed. ❤️Yes, I’m starting November with a little soapbox moment. My personal life is my personal life. What’s yours is yours. And if you don’t like you can move on and there will not be any hurt feelings.

Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.
