If your like my family then in October, you may look for #Halloween movies to watch. My family and I start looking for Halloween movies at the end of September so we can make a schedule and not miss any of our favorite movies. Some are old favorites we watch year after year, while others are movies we somehow missed along the way. And if you have been following along as I worked through this year’s Halloween movie schedules, you know there have been plenty of movies to talk about!
But something unexpected happened while I was looking for movies this year. I discovered three places to look for Halloween programming that I hadn’t really thought about before! You know how it goes around here. I’m looking through the television listings, Charlie is sharing something he found, and David is mentioning another place to check. Before I knew it, I had three more places to add to my Halloween-movie search. Taking me back down that #RabbitHole again.
A&E: Another Place to Look for Halloween Movies The first channel that caught my attention was A&E. My family was going through Halloween programming and Charlie said this was another place worth checking for movies during spooky season. Now I have a question for you. Have ever checked A&E’s schedule when you were looking for a Halloween movie? I usually have a few familiar channels in mind when October rolls around, but this year reminded me that it is worth looking beyond that usual list. A&E’s programming changes, so check its official television schedule to see what is coming up. You might find something to add to your watchlist!
Then Charlie pointed out that Syfy had Halloween movies, too! I’ll be honest: when I’m searching for something to watch, I can get into the habit of checking the same channels over and over. Sometimes somebody else in the family has to point out what I’ve been missing.
Syfy is another place to check if you’re looking for spooky-season entertainment, including science fiction, supernatural stories, and horror movies. It was a channel I hadn’t heard of before. You can browse the Syfy programming available through Spectrum On Demand, although what you can watch depends on your television provider and package. And now I’m curious: Have you been watching Syfy for Halloween movies for years, or is this a channel you haven’t thought to check either?
Just when I thought I had found a few new places to look, David mentioned Shudder. Shudder was another name I hadn’t heard of before so it was a new place for me to check out in my Halloween-movie hunt. Unlike a traditional television channel, Shudder is a streaming service devoted to horror, thrillers, and related entertainment.
Its 2026 Season of Screams runs from September through December and includes new films, series, special events, and watch parties. You can read about the programming on Shudder’s official announcement. Now, I know Shudder is geared toward horror fans, and that doesn’t mean every movie will be a fit for every family. We all have our own comfort levels when it comes to scary movies. But if you enjoy horror and want to discover something different, it’s another option to explore.
This year’s search reminded me of something simple: sometimes we miss things because we keep looking in the same places. I started out checking the Halloween movie schedules I already knew. Along the way, I found A&E, Charlie brought Syfy to my attention, and David mentioned Shudder. Three more places to explore, simply because my family and I kept talking about what we wanted to watch.
You don’t have to subscribe to every streaming service or watch every movie. Start by checking the channels and services you already have access to. Look at the current listings, see what’s available, and decide whether anything catches your eye. If a service requires an additional subscription, check the cost before signing up.
And remember, Halloween movies don’t all have to be terrifying. Some families want a good scare, while others prefer friendly ghosts, funny monsters, and movies that let everyone enjoy the season without hiding behind a pillow!
So, as you look for your next Halloween movie, think outside the box. You might discover a channel or streaming service you haven’t considered before, just as my family did.
Now it’s your turn! Have you watched Halloween movies on A&E or Syfy? Have you heard of Shudder? And if you have a favorite place to find Halloween movies that the rest of us might be overlooking, please share it in the comments. I’d love to hear what you recommend!
